aspects of urology...<br />
Each consultant holds a teaching hospital appointment at<br />
University Hospital Southampton and has the extensive<br />
expertise in a specific area of urology.<br />
You may choose to see any of our experts for a consultation<br />
and diagnosis, our philosophy is that through subspecialisation<br />
and team-working we are able to guarantee<br />
that should they require an operation, it will be performed<br />
by a high volume surgeon – something that has been shown<br />
time and again to improve outcomes for patients.<br />
Our services include:<br />
• 2 week wait (e.g. raised PSA,<br />
abnormal DRE, haematuria,<br />
testis and renal masses).<br />
• Prostate cancer diagnostics<br />
using multi parametric MRI,<br />
specialist and targeting<br />
biopsy techniques (template,<br />
fusion, smart), robotic surgery,<br />
salvage treatments.<br />
• Benign prostate disorders<br />
such as benign enlargement,<br />
infections, inflammation.<br />
Treatment options include<br />
TURP, HoLEP (laser surgery),<br />
Urolift, PAE (Prostate Artery<br />
Embolisation).<br />
• Urinary tract stone disease<br />
with shockwave lithotripsy,<br />
ureteroscopy, laser lithotripsy,<br />
micro/mini/standard PCNL<br />
and chemical pathology<br />
support to prevent further<br />
stones.<br />
• Bladder conditions such<br />
as over-active bladder<br />
(OAB), infections, stones,<br />
incontinence, supported by<br />
a high quality urodynamics<br />
service.<br />
• Men’s health conditions<br />
including erectile dysfunctions<br />
(ED), andropause,<br />
contraception (vasectomy).<br />
• Complex robotic,<br />
laparoscopic and open cancer<br />
options for those with bladder,<br />
renal, testis and neighbouring<br />
organ tumours.<br />
