DeVonta Smith had 1 to 66 odds in the preseason to win the Heisman which means he would
be considered someone from the Field. There are quite a few athletes on this list that I think
could win the award. Keep in mind the winner of the Heisman has been a quarterback in 17 of
the last 21 years. Also, the winner is usually on one of the teams that is competing a national
championship by seasons end. If an outsider from the ‘Field” were to be a finalist, my guess
would be Anthony Brown, Max Johnson or Max Duggan. If a “Contender” were to win, it would
be Breece Hall or Emory Jones. When December rolls around, I expect Spencer Rattler, DJ
UIagalelei, Sam Howell and Breece Hall to be the finalists. My best guess is that DJ Uiagalelei
will be Clemson’s first winner of the Heisman Trophy.
