Founded in 1935, St Nicholas’ School is
set within 30 beautiful acres of Hampshire
countryside. Despite our enviable rural
location, we are easily accessible and we
run a range of bus routes. We educate
girls from 3 – 16 and boys from 3 – 7 in
a safe and nurturing environment. Our
fantastic facilities include an Astroturf
pitch, sports fields, forest school and
purpose-built performance and arts
buildings. Coupled with our excellent
wrap-around care, we create the
perfect environment for an outstanding
education.
At St Nicholas’, we are passionate
about supporting children’s academic,
emotional and social wellbeing,
enabling them to develop well-rounded
perspectives, strong values and a growth

Academically St Nicholas’ pupils are
encouraged to have high standards and
equally high aspirations. Our small class
sizes develop curiosity, creativity and
a love of learning, whilst our specialist
teaching allows pupils to be stretched
and supported. We consistently achieve
outstanding GCSE results and are
always looking to develop and integrate
the latest educational excellence. For
example, at St Nicholas’ we use the
“White Rose Maths” frameworks, which
are enjoyable, engaging, varied and
encourage pupils to identify, understand
and correct their own errors to build a
solid foundation in mathematics. We
also look at the successful approaches
adopted by other countries such as
Finland, Hungary and Japan. This
means that when St Nicholas’ pupils
get to GCSE and beyond, they are both
competent and confident.
Performing arts play an integral part in
school life, with music and drama taught
throughout the school by specialist
teachers in specialist facilities. Children
are encouraged to learn musical
instruments and there are regular
performance opportunities at weekly
assemblies and termly concerts in our
purpose-built Pritchard Hall. Our school
orchestras, choirs, chamber choir and
musical ensembles perform at very high
standards throughout the year. Highlights
include school productions by senior and
junior pupils and the much-anticipated
nursery nativity play.
Sport for all is key at St Nicholas’; we
have excellent sporting facilities and
dedicated, enthusiastic staff. Pupils of
all ages are encouraged to do their best
and take full advantage of the wide range
of sports and activities on offer including
netball, athletics, swimming, football,
rugby and tennis. Developing resilience
and teamwork, Junior and senior pupils
have the opportunity to compete against
a wide range of other schools.
A strong pastoral care program, a wide
range of enrichment and a partnership
approach with both pupils and parents
is another key part of our ethos. At St
Nicholas’ our size enables the staff to
know each pupil and support them
as individuals. We maintain an open
dialogue with parents and throughout
your child’s time at St Nicholas’ our doors
are always open. The school’s enrichment
and co-curricular programs aim to
develop and expand pupils’ learning
outside of the classroom, including trips
to local farms and historic locations, team
building activities, and senior field trips to
Iceland and France.
