Biographical Notes<br />

Anne Parker, PhD, is the <strong>Technical</strong> Communication Coord<strong>in</strong>ator <strong>in</strong> the Faculty<br />

of Eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g at the University of Manitoba, Canada, <strong>and</strong> is currently an<br />

Associate Professor. She has reviewed numerous technical communication texts<br />

for various publishers, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g Wiley <strong>and</strong> Oxford Press, <strong>and</strong> has also served<br />

as a reviewer for numerous journals, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g IEEE Transactions on Education.<br />

She has been <strong>in</strong>volved for many years with the Canadian Association of Teachers<br />

of <strong>Technical</strong> Writ<strong>in</strong>g (an affiliate of ATTW) <strong>and</strong> has served as an editor of<br />

their journal. An active researcher <strong>in</strong> technical communication, particularly as<br />

it relates to eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g education, her current research <strong>in</strong>terests <strong>in</strong>clude collaborative<br />

projects with<strong>in</strong> the context of eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g education <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong>tegrat<strong>in</strong>g<br />

<strong>in</strong>formation literacy <strong>in</strong>to the classroom. In 2004, she became a Senior Member<br />

of the IEEE, a status that recognizes professional st<strong>and</strong><strong>in</strong>g.<br />

Jonathan Pitts is Associate Professor of English at Ohio Northern University,<br />

where he coord<strong>in</strong>ates the <strong>Professional</strong> Writ<strong>in</strong>g program <strong>and</strong> teaches creative<br />

writ<strong>in</strong>g, cultural studies, rhetoric, <strong>and</strong> literature. He is a 2010-2011 Fulbright<br />

lecturer <strong>in</strong> Turkey.<br />

Alex Reid is an associate professor of English at the University of Buffalo. His<br />

scholarship focuses on the relationship between writ<strong>in</strong>g, pedagogy, <strong>and</strong> emerg<strong>in</strong>g<br />

technologies. His book, The Two Virtuals: New Media <strong>and</strong> Composition, received<br />

honorable mention for the W. Ross W<strong>in</strong>terowd Award for best book <strong>in</strong><br />

composition theory for 2007, <strong>and</strong> his articles can be found <strong>in</strong> journals such as<br />

Kairos: A Journal of Rhetoric, Technology, <strong>and</strong> Pedagogy <strong>and</strong> Computers <strong>and</strong> Composition.<br />

His award-w<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g blog, Digital Digs (www.alex-reid.net), addresses<br />

issues of new media, writ<strong>in</strong>g, <strong>and</strong> higher education.<br />

Colleen A. Reilly is an associate professor at the University of North Carol<strong>in</strong>a<br />

Wilm<strong>in</strong>gton. Her teach<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> research focus on professional <strong>and</strong> technical<br />

writ<strong>in</strong>g theory <strong>and</strong> pedagogy; electronic composition <strong>and</strong> citation; <strong>and</strong> gender,<br />

sexuality, <strong>and</strong> technology. Her publications <strong>in</strong>clude several chapters <strong>in</strong> edited collections<br />

<strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong> the journals Computers <strong>and</strong> Composition <strong>and</strong> Innovate related to<br />

citation analysis, writ<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> technology, gender <strong>and</strong> technology, <strong>and</strong> digital research<br />

<strong>and</strong> teach<strong>in</strong>g practices<br />

Wendy B. Sharer is an Associate Professor of English at East Carol<strong>in</strong>a University,<br />

where she also serves as Director of Composition. She is co-editor of<br />

Work<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> the Archives: Practical Research Methods for Rhetoric <strong>and</strong> Composition<br />

(Southern Ill<strong>in</strong>ois 2009), author of Vote & Voice: Women’s Organizations<br />

<strong>and</strong> Political Literacy, 1915-1930 (Southern Ill<strong>in</strong>ois 2004), <strong>and</strong> co-editor of<br />
