Downtown Milwaukee
The Milwaukee RiverWalk draws a mix of high-end
residential, commercial and recreational venues to its shoreline, creating
a highly active pedestrian environment along the river.

The Milwaukee River is a river is about 104 miles long. Once a locus of industry,
the river is now the center of a housing boom. New condos now crowd the downtown and
harbor districts of Milwaukee attracting young professionals to the area.

While Chicago clearly remains the “big city” sister to Milwaukee, the two metro
areas are increasingly growing together into one megaregion, connected by
the I-94 corridor lined with booming development and business parks in Lake
County on the Illinois side of the state line and areas like Pleasant Prairie on the
Wisconsin side of the line.

Lakefront Milwaukee
Pier Wisconsin is a premier event venue in the Midwest that is situated on
Milwaukee’s Lakefront and is home to Discovery World which provides a unique
setting for special events. Surrounded by Lake Michigan, Discovery World has
breathtaking views which show the lights and excitement of downtown Milwaukee.
Third Ward – Milwaukee
Trendy shops and dining abound in this revitalized warehouse district. Block
after block of formerly industrial space is now home to galleries, restaurants,
boutique shops, and stylish national retailers like West Elm, Anthropologie, and
Pendleton. The neighborhood is anchored on the north end by the Milwaukee
Public Market and by the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design to the south.
Along the lakefront is Henry Maier Festival Park, where Milwaukee’s lakefront
comes alive every summer for festival after festival.
Third Ward – Milwaukee
The Historic Third Ward is one of the city’s creative hubs, home to art galleries
and studios in former warehouses, and performing arts venues like the
Broadway Theater Center. Restaurants are upscale and trendy, and patio dining is popular.
Indie boutiques sell fashion and homeware, while the indoor Milwaukee Public Market has produce,
cheese and fish vendors. Henry W. Maier Festival Park hosts events and concerts.
Walker’s Point – Milwaukee
Walker’s Point is a diverse neighborhood known for its nightlife scene,
which includes LGBT bars and Latin clubs. Craft breweries and distilleries
with on-site bars and taprooms are housed in industrial spaces, while the
restaurant scene includes plenty of Mexican eateries, trendy American
bistros and locavore brunch spots.
Recreation in Wisconsin
The Kenosha Sand Dunes form the northern tip of the Chiwaukee Prairie
Natural Area. They are one of the few remaining dune systems in Southeastern
Wisconsin. They run for a half mile along Lake Michigan just to the south of
Kenosha’s Southport Park and are bounded on the west by 7th Avenue.

The Pike River Corridor and Pathway is accessible from multiple different points
in Racine County. The Mount Pleasant Village owns this set of land for conversancy
purposes. According to the Village of Mount Pleasant the site encompasses
339 acres, including 36 acres over which the Village has as easement.
About 110 acres of secondary environmental corridor are included
within village ownership.
Des Plaines River: Pleasant Prairie
This is a beautifully historic river that once comprised part of an important
route from Lake Michigan to the Mississippi. Most of the river now flows
through an intensely urbanized area but this stretch still flows through
surroundings that are surprisingly wild.

Devil’s Lake State Park is located in Baraboo, Wisconsin, and is Wisconsin’s most
popular state park with about 3 million visitors per year. The over 10,000-acre
park anchors more than 27,000 acres of parkland and natural areas open to
public recreation in Sauk County.
