THE MABON
MANUAL
1. Give thanks to other
higher powers
Of course, our work together has been all about thanking the feminine
energy of the Earth. But there are lots of other forces at play. Every day,
light a candle and find a new source to give thanks to. Here is some
inspiration:
A religious deity (if you believe)
Archangels
Wiccan deities
Your spiritual, magical or astrological guides
Important people in your life – such as a partner, friends,
colleagues and family
Yourself, for having the strength to carry on through the
hard times
As the seasons begin to change, it is
vitally important to get out and
appreciate the natural world around
you. Put away your technology and
let yourself get lost in the beauty of
the sunset-hued trees. Soak up the
scent of dew-tipped grass in the
mornings. Breathe in the air as it
grows crisper and drier. This is the
time to appreciate the dawn of a
brand new season
3. Gather your loved
ones for a Mabon feast!
This will show Mother Earth that you are grateful for
the produce she supplies that allows you to bring
together your friends and family. Focus on serving
delicious seasonal produce and using recipes that
bring out the natural flavors of your star ingredients –
like apples, of course. If it’s not possible for you to
celebrate with others, treating yourself to a delicious
harvest feast will do the trick as well.
4. Give back to the
community
You’re about to enter a period of incredible abundance.
But hoarding everything for yourself just isn’t in your
nature, is it? So, I want you to make an effort to give
back to those who haven’t been blessed in the same
way as you. You could create a hamper for your local
food distribution center, volunteer at a soup kitchen, or
spend time conversing with less fortunate
communities. It's not about giving money or even
supplies – your time is as valuable a resource as any.
5. Incorporate the
humble apple into
your life
The symbol of this season has great spiritual power,
particularly around the week of Mabon itself. So, as
often as you can, make sure the apple has a starring
role in your routine. Eat it, choose items of décor
bestowed with an apple, wear the red and green of the
fruit in your outfits – your options are endless.
Whatever you choose to do, make sure the apple
remains at the heart of your actions.
