PURA VIDA – A term originating from Costa Rica, meaning PURE LIFE.

In 2014 we spent a year living in Costa Rica and familiarizing ourselves with the natural way

of life and how we can live and work in harmony with nature to obtain maximum benefits and

endless wealth in health and wellbeing.

In 2015 the brand was born in Amsterdam, The Netherlands where we first created balms with

hemp and CBD, which relieved many symptoms from topical dermatitis to muscle and joint pain

and discomfort.

As green beauty and chemistry pioneers, we research, develop and manufacture high-quality

plant-based remedies and skincare which promotes wellbeing and natural wellness.

Our labs are located in Croatia near Zagreb, not far from where our hemp plants are growing in

the rolling hills of Croatia and neighbouring Slovenia.

VIDA meaning life is the name of our skincare line.

A brand that can support you and your family’s skincare and wellness

needs through life from baby – to teenager – to adult – and senior years.

Our logo consists of a thumbprint texture on a hemp leaf.

The thumbprint symbolizes – the unique way in which we produce our

OUR COMPANY PHILOSOPHY

Our primary focus is on sensitive and problematic skin types since industrial beauty and

skincare products have taken it’s toll on our skin and the eco-system. And we have paid the

price with increased skin sensitivity and acne.

Pura Vida Organic researches techniques and formulas to restore your skin’s natural beauty

When we design a product, we start with the skin related problem and work backwards – researching

every known plant-based ingredient that can potentially make a significant difference

in the appearance of the skin. We combine hemp, CBD and other ingredients that will have

positive synergistic reactions with each other and your skin.

By using an effective amount of ingredients in a product (The goldilocks ratio), so that your skin

actually benefits from the ingredient – not just making the label and ingredient list look pretty.

Our selection of suppliers is based on cultivation and processing methods using as little machinery

as possible, we are adamant in preserving the quality and richness of our raw ingredients

- something only possible when done by hand. Our organic ingredients are raw and “living”

- and we need to respect that.

We carry this belief through to our labs and production facility, where we use hand-made manufacturing

techniques from mixing and filling to labelling and boxing.

Therefore, each product is unique. Each product has its unique human touch.

Each product has been lovingly made by the hands of the women and men in our team.

Not one product is exactly the same as the other – just like our own very unique set of fingerprints.

(perhaps the label is a bit off-center, perhaps the colour of the cream is slightly different and

perhaps the colour of the 25%-grass and recycled cardboard box is slightly different than the

ones before) – this is all because we are unique, and so is nature. In nature an exact replicate

hardly ever exists. With changing seasons and different soils, so the fruits that are harvested

are never exactly the same as the year before.

You can rest assured, that the quality of the ingredients are always of the highest purity and

top quality. And the quantity of CBD and other ingredients are always consistent from batch

to batch.

The hemp tree is our tree of life. From this amazing plant we can do so many things – food, medicine,

textile, animal feed, plastic, paper, job creation, detoxing of our soils and much much more.

WHY CBD & WHERE DOES IT COMES FROM

CBD the beauty industry’s new HIGH. Since early 2019, CBD has been voted the #1 ingredient

in skincare.

CBD stands for Cannabidiol, CBD for short, and is obtained from the Cannabis sativa L. species

otherwise known as Hemp. CBD and THC are the two major naturally occurring cannabinoids

found and of course the most famous. Besides CBD there are a further 120 or more

different cannabinoids, terpenes and bio-active compounds found in this amazing plant.

The main reason why this plant and it’s compounds are so interesting to us is because all

mammalian bodies have what is called an endocannabinoid system – a complex cell-signalling

system which maintains homeostasis within the body, and naturally has receptors

which these hemp derived cannabinoids can bind to. These receptors are found on the

skin, in the brain, central nervous system and internal organs.

This makes CBD a uniquely versatile ingredient that can be used for anything from preventing

the over-production of sebum (causing breakouts) to calming inflammation (one of

CBD’s most well-documented features) which is a leading cause of signs of ageing. It helps

with redness, blotchiness, uneven skin tone, blemishes, dry and rough skin, overly oily skin,

repairing damaged skin, easing the effects of sunburn, muscle fatigue, spasms and joint

discomfort. The list is truly extensive and new use cases are being documented by the day.

CBD does not make you high, but it is psychoactive as an anti-anxiety agent and anti-psychotic

agent. CBD also has the ability to counteract the prominent side effects of THC.

A multi-purpose molecule which has shown positive results in the treatment of many different

ailments related to humans and other mammals. (like our pets)

Our focus is primarily on the skin - hair follicles, sweat and sebaceous glands.

Numerous scientific studies have shown Cannabidiol to be an effective anti-inflammatory,

skin, ageing skin, joint and muscle issues we have an incredible ingredient which can offer

Besides CBD we use numerous other powerful plant-based oils, extracts, macerates, butters

and waxes to create a complimentary effect. These key ingredients work synergistically

together to restore and maintain the skins natural balance and well-being.

CERTIFICATIONS AND GUARANTEE

In 2018 we passed CGMP and ISO9001 standards in preparation for COSMOS Organic and

Natural certification which followed in 2019.

Pura Vida Organic (PVO Labs) and VIDA CBD Skincare was the first CBD production facility

and skincare line to obtain such certification world-wide!

Certification is very important for ourselves, buyers and end customers.

With certification comes the guarantee that the entire process of creating our beautiful

CBD skincare products has been through controlled steps – right from the raw ingredient

from hemp growing in the fields, to the shea butter coming from Northern Africa, to the

way in which we receive these products and establish our own quality control in the lab to

ensure only the best ingredients are mixed into creams, oils, cleansers, gels, masks and

more…just for you.

Each process must be controlled and inspected to guarantee high quality and effective

products.

This is something which should be a requirement in the CBD industry and not an option!

The market is saturated with overpriced and unregulated illegal CBD oils because the industry

has been quite unregulated, this has been a problem for some retailers as products

are pulled from the shelves because they lack traceability and the correct certifications.

Our clients are assured that our products are manufactured under the strict conditions of

CGMP and ISO9001, registered, 3rd party lab tested and dermatologically tested for safety

and efficacy.

Our Hemp and CBD is derived from EU certified varieties which are grown in Croatia and

Slovenia. All certified for use in organic & natural skincare.

All other ingredients are supplied to us through other Organic certified producers and growers,

ensuring premium quality from start to finish.

ECO-FRIENDLY PACKAGING

BOTTLES AND JARS

Our product packaging is comprised of glass where-ever possible.

We use aluminium lids for our glass jars. And Aluminium jars for our deodorant and tattoo butters.

Glass is very easily cleaned, upcycled to be used for something new, otherwise immediately

recycled.

Plastic is ONLY used where necessary, eg. Products that you can find in the shower – for safety.

Eg. Seals on the lids of oil bottles so that there is no mess.

All of our plastic packaging – either PP or HDPE is reusable, therefore nothing is meant for single

use. And all are very easily recycled within your local communities recycling depot.

BOXES

Our boxes are made of 25% grass pulp and recycled paper and cardboard, which creates the

most exquisite looking boxes, perfect for our organic skincare.

Grass is a locally sourced raw material which is renewable and sustainable. Grass significantly

saves on mechanical pulp which reduces the consumption of energy and water.

LABELS

Our product labels are either PP or paper.

For all bottles and jars which live in our bathrooms and come into contact with water, are labelled

with PP labels and a vegan friendly glue.

All boxes are either printed or labelled with recycled paper labels using vegetable inks and dyes.

SUSTAINABILITY

Great skincare and good-looking skin should not come at a cost to our planet, therefore as

responsible and conscious producers we commit to reducing our waste, carbon foot-print and

energy needs as much possible.

RAW MATERIALS

Our raw materials are acquired where ever possible from local suppliers. Although some of the

ingredients we use does not naturally grow in Europe, all of our suppliers are organic certified

and operate under Fair Trade. We make sure to bulk import with other producers to lower our

carbon footprint in terms of transport.

We also work with local farmers to produce raw materials specifically for us, at an honourable

and fair price.

VEGAN

Our raw materials are VEGAN. Vegetable oils, herbal extracts, plant butters and waxes and floral

waters.

BEESWAX AND HONEY

Bees are very important to our life on this planet as they pollinate the very food which we consume.

Therefore you will find beeswax and honey in a select few products – some CBD balms

and the Hemp & Honey range. We support organic bee-farming. Which is natural and no bees

are harmed.

MANUFACTURING

We primarily manufacture by hand – this decreases our energy consumption and carbon footprint,

as our energy requirement for machines is almost carbon-neutral.

HAND-MADE

Our production facility is designed to enable 90% of our activities to be done by hand. From

weighing, mixing, filling, capping, labelling and boxing. Each product is made with loving care

and the human-touch.

This type of production method ensures that the raw ingredients we use retain their powerful

properties and are not destroyed by big magnetic fields found in large machinery. Thus also

decreasing our energy consumption and carbon footprint.

COMMUNITY

We are able to create many jobs in our local community and therefore make a difference in other

people’s lives.

CAPACITY

We are able to produce, label and box 2000 creams per day and 3000 bottles of oil.
