ON COURSE!
With Programme Editor Neal Jeffs
Welcome to the players, officials and
supporters of Wembley for this Cherry Red
Records Combined Counties League
Premier Division North match.
Happy
reading, and
enjoy the
game! Neal
Afternoon all and welcome to The Racecourse after three weeks away! Looking at the
league table the game should be pretty close with Wembley having won four and
drawn three matches from their seven games played. There has been a lot going on
with our other teams recently. Firstly, the Ladies team were impressive in winning
their first home league game of the season last Sunday – 2-0 against Woodley United
– and that was without talented striker Sarah Leonard. More recently, the youth team
breezed past Cove in the FA Youth Cup on Tuesday as striker Alex Hall bagged a
superb hat-trick. Away from The Racecourse I have been watching scores from
across the nation – some of them crazy scorelines! In the Welsh Cup two weeks ago
you might have heard Bala Town hammered third-tier Brymbo 17-1. Even more
incredibly is that the Brymbo equalised at 1-1 and then conceded 16 goals in 74
minutes – a goal aver 4 ½ minutes!!! Even more staggering was Hinckley FC’s FA Vase
win at St Martin’s last weekend when they recorded a club record 18-0 triumph!
REST IN PEACE GORDY. Brackley Town
Saints and non-league football
mourns the loss of Gordon Kille to
MND. He was a true gentleman and
had a positive outlook since his
diagnosis.
Looking ahead, we host Windsor on Tuesday in the Berks and Bucks Senior Trophy
and are back on the road next weekend with a return to Tadley Calleva for our FA Vase
2nd qualifying round match. We already beat Tadley in the league earlier this season
so they will be wanting to get equal with us, but hopefully we have a good following
over there to get us over the line. Finally, some sad news came through that Gordon
Kille, former manager of Brackley Town Saints, died last week after a courageous
battle with Motor Neurone Disease. “Gordy” was a super guy who was well respected
in the non-league scene and after his diagnosis a few years back got on with life as
much as possible “making happy memories” as was stated on his twitter page. RIP
Sir. Finally, back to today, bets wishes to both teams and we’ll look forward to our trip
to Wembley later this season (maybe twice…!!!). Enjoy the game! Neal
