The Story of ‘Wet’
Having spent my life on Dhawaral land in southern Sydney, in and around the
waters of Port Hacking, Cronulla, Georges River, and down to Thirroul, I often feel
happiest when I am in or on the water in some form or another - ‘wet’.
It has only been in recent times, as I have purposefully delved into our First
Nations heritage, that I have begun to appreciate the land and our connection
more fully. For me, paddling in the shallows, sailing on the rivers and bays,
swimming in the surf surrounded by sand and gorgeous eucalypts are some of the
things that give me peace.
I am a water-man.
I like to splash.
This show is an expression of that connection.
Without the burden of having a ‘commercial show’ – no works are for sale on site
– I have the freedom to express myself as I wish, in various mediums. With works
ranging from my main professional vocation of fine Australian timber carving and
bronze casting, to mixed media, charcoal drawing, and both acrylic and oil
paintings.
Set on the foreshores of Georges River, thanks to the generosity of the Connells
Point Sailing Club, my work looks out over the river.
