6 things to know

about the MLB

postseason

Teams to Know

In the Mlb there are 30 teams, 15 in

each league American and Natinal.

But only ten teams make to the

postseason. Every postseason

there are 6 guaranteed teams that

you will see, this year the Giants,

Braves and Brewers for the

National league. For the American

league the teams were the Astros,

White Sox, and Rays. Then there

are 2 wild card spots for each

league American, and National

league. These 2 spots are given to

the runner up teams in each

league, this year the wild card

spots were the Stl. Cardinals and

the Los Angels . Dodgers, and for

the American league it was the

New York Yankees and the Red Sox.

So all together there are a total of

ten teams in each postseason with

an exception of the 2020

postseason.

Players to Know

Top ten players of the year, Gold

glove award, and Mvp are some

lists you will see as the postseason,

and the end of the season gets

closer. Names such has Shoehei

Ohtan, Fernado Tatis Jr, and

Ronald Acuna Jr, are some pretty

big names that will be all over

these lists. . Even some young

starts like Jonathen India, Dylan

Carlson, and Randy Arozarena are

all some young stars that are most

likely candidates fore rookie of the

year. Some of the best resources to

learn more about the postseason

and baseball in general are apps

like ESPN, MLB, Bleacher Report

and many others. These resources

have things all over to find out

more about the postseason and

what to look for, from articles to

postgame talk shows postseason

teams, matchups of the

postseason, players and so much

more.

Schedule

Sometimes the Mlb postseason

can get a little confusing about

who, when and where? Here's some

basic things to know. There can

ben a maximum of 43 games

played from the wild card to the

world series, and there can be a

minimum of 26 games. First is the

NLDS and ALDS which stands for

National or American league

Division series. These games are

between a team from each division

which are central, west, east and

the wild card spots. There are 4

teams from each league, 2 teams

play each other then whoever wins

moves onto the NLCS or ALCS. The

NLCS and the ALCS which stands

for National or American league

championship series. Then the

winner from that game goes to the

World Series. The World Series is

the best teams from each league,

there can be a minuim of 4 games

and a maxim of 7. The team with the

best record will have the most

home games, so the best team will

have 4 home games and the other

team will only have 3.

Tie Breakers

In baseball there can never be a tie

and that applies to most sports,

but in baseball especially. If by the

ninth inning the teams are tied

then the game would go into extra

innings. The same applies in the

postseason, if two teams are tied

for the wild card. There would be a

game played by those two teams

the day before the wild card game.

Whoever wins that game then

moves on to the wild card. The tie

breaker would be played at the

home field of whichever team has a

better record. Home field

advantage can help a team in

many ways, 1 being they would be

at there home stadium with there

home fans. 2 being they bat 2nd

which can help if there are down by

the time the 9th innings roles

around.. The team can they co

up and score and tie and go

into extra innings of win the

game.

Up next

The Mlb postseason format has

had some slight changes over the

years but nothing major, but now

the Mlb is looking at a major

change for the playoffs. The 2019

playoffs bracket was the last

normal postseason bracket. The

2020 bracket was very different due

to covid because the 2019 bracket

had only ten teams. The 2021

bracket was still only ten teams but

many people are asking the

question will it be the last ten game

playoffs? The Mlb is now looking

into and possibly starting in the

2022 postseason a 14 or 16 game

playoffs. Why though, why go from

10 to 16? The reason is Money.

Simply that during the 2020

postseason there were 16 teams in

the playoff bracket. This then leads

to the league making more money.

Some pros of the 16 game

postseason include more teams

which is one of biggest reasons,

and one thing leads to another.

More teams, more games, more

games equals more fans which

equals more money. Some cons of

the 16 game postseason is near

half of the teams would qualify for

the postseason, which then makes

it much, much longer.

The Finale

Now after going through possibly

the wild card the NLDS or the

ALDS, then going through the

NLCS or the ALCS and winning.

You are finally there for the final

series of the season. The World

Series. In the World Series like any

other series in the postseason

there can be up to seven game no

tie breakers because it is an odd

number, and there can be as low as

4 games. In the World Series it is

the very best team from the NL or

the National League and the very

best team from the Al or the

American league. The World Series

games are played 2 at one team's

home field and then 3 at the other

team's home field. The last game is

played at whichever team has the

best record.
