head to Glasgow for COP26
Poster company adds views of
Wanstead Park and Flats to collection
Eight activists from Wanstead Climate Action
are travelling to Glasgow this month to add
pressure on world leaders at COP26, the
international climate summit. “We want
a fair and rapid transition to a fossil-free
world. The answers and technology already
exist. All that’s lacking is the political will,”
said Tina Nieman Da Costa. The group will
also be joining a national day of action on
6 November, including a family-friendly event
at St John’s Church in Leytonstone from

A company that designs travel posters has
added views of Wanstead Park and Wanstead
Flats to its collection. “Our company began
by creating a set of 15 posters, one for each
National Park in the UK. But it felt silly to stop
there. We now invite people to get in touch
and share their favourite parks with us, and
we’re doing our best to make travel posters of
the most loved parks in London. We work with
artists around the world and the collection
continues to grow,” said Jack Franks, founder

Book circulating in Wanstead to help
children understand refugees

Wanstead resident Paul Canal is seeking
to help children understand refugees by
circulating a book among the community.
“I have bought eight copies of the children’s
book My Name is Not Refugee by Kate Milner
to lend to local families. I am hoping people
will read it and pass it on to a new family, and
so on. It may help our children understand,
in a positive way, why they have a new friend
in class from a different country,” said Paul,
who suggests a donation to the Tin in a Bin
network for each loan.
