Christingle & Foodbank

Bit unusual this year - well, there’s a surprise!

St John’s and the Methodists are planning a modified

village Christingle service at the chapel on

Sunday 5th December at 11am.

We won’t be constructing the Christingles as part of the

service but we’ll distribute them ready-made and with glow

sticks instead of candles.

However, instead of the normal collection of toys - this has

happened since just after WW11 when a quarry lorry

would take the toys to Lambeth Mission - we’re asking for

food gifts for the Christmas Food Boxes being distributed

by the Wadebridge Foodbank.

This is their list:

Cordial

Christmas Pudding

Christmas Meat – eg tins of ham

Pickle

Savoury Biscuits

Boxed biscuits

Stuffing

Custard

Mince meat

Crisps (large)

Christmas chocolates (large)

Christmas cake

Yule log

Mince pies

Lovely to see you at the service.

An update to the Good Energy smart

meter cautionary tale

Is the Delabole Slate more influential than the Ombudsman

I wonder?

A little while after my account of the electricity tariff

difficulties with Good Energy had been published in the

October edition of the Slate they sent me an email.

It said there have “ been some changes to their internal

systems” and they were now able to apply the Delabole

local tariff to my new smart meter.

The computer says “yes” at last, after several months of

saying “no” !

So to any residents on the Good Energy Delabole local

tariff, when you are offered a smart meter, the precedent

has been set and there is now no reason for you to be

changed onto a different more expensive tariff.
