Radan Jovanović
Radan Jovanović (Serbia) (1990) is one of the most promising conductors of his generation in Serbia. He
worked with most renowned symphony orchestras in Serbia including Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra and
Symphony Orchestra of Serbian Radio-Television. As a conductor, he performed in Belgrade, Novi Sad and other
cities in Serbia, and also in Italy, Belgium, Romania and Croatia. He also conducted other ensembles including
Kamerata Kronstadt (Brasov, Romania), Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra (Croatia), Orchestra of Hundred
Youths (Italy), Construction Site Contemporary Music Ensemble (Belgrade) and Jewish Chamber Orchestra
(Belgrade). Beside the work with instrumental ensembles he also worked with two choirs from Belgrade -
“Branko Krsmanović” and “Braća Baruh”. He finished piano studies at Belgrade Faculty of Music in class of
professor Ninoslav Živković, from who he learned about understanding of music and conducting principles.
Later he specialized his conducting skills by learning from conductors, including Colin Metters, Ronald Zollman,
Cristian Orosanu, Cristian Mandeal, Bojan Suđić and Roberto Duarte. In 2014 he founded Belgrade Symphony,
the youngest professional symphony orchestra in Serbia, where he is currently artistic director and chief
conductor. During his professional work as a conductor so far, Radan showed great affinity towards repertoire
exploring, and performing works which haven’t been performed in Serbia so far, either are rarely performed.
This have included premiere performances of works by Michael and Joseph Haydn, Gerald Finzi, Jean Sibelius
and Karl Nielsen among others. He is also active as a pianist and chamber musician.
