A WORD FROM THE PRESIDENT
A radical shift has taken place that has left the world reeling with pain,
death, tragedy, disappointment, and an ovewhelming sense of concern. It is
unlikely that there is a single person on earth left unaffected by these
changes which have been thrust upon us. For most of us, we have learned to
cope with the changes to the best of our abilities. Some still are grappling
with whatever losses have been incurred.
The good news is that the “Good News” of Jesus has not changed and does not
waver. No matter what kind of obstacles we may face in our world, our God is
the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). Our Lord’s Great Commission was given
to us just prior to His ascension. Until we complete that task, we keep our hands to the plow
and our eyes focused on the lost.
Joshua Nations has weathered the storms of a global pandemic, the death of our Founder, and
the ongoing disruptions of travel due to restrictions, lockdowns, and the political power
plays happening around the world. Yet, by the grace of God the ministry has continued with
great strength and momentum. New doors of opportunity have opened for evangelism, outreach,
discipleship, and church planting in several new nations. Joshua Nations is committed to give
its all for the sake of the Gospel and to pioneer work amongst the unreached and frontier people
groups. With your prayer and support Joshua Nations will persevere and press onward to reach
the last, the least, the lost. We will not stop until His commission is finished!
Rev. Jason Holland - President
FINANCIAL STEWARDSHIP
Joshua Nations ministry is made possible by generous donors and churches. Because of
this, we know that our stewardship of these gifts is critical. Our goal is to see every
donor dollar go as far as possible for the Glory of God and to have transparency and
accountability to keep us on the right path. We follow these practices:
• Joshua Nations operates within its budget, and is debt free. The annual budget is
reviewed and approved by the Board of Directors.
• Joshua Nations consistently gives to other ministries and missionaries.
• Joshua Nations pays all bills promptly and on time.
• Joshua Nations receipts each gift (via email) and provides a year-end total receipt
of donations.
• Joshua Nations protects the privacy of each donor and does not sell or share any
donor information.
Joshua Nations has multiple layers of financial accountability including two staff
members, an external bookkeeper, an external CPA, and quarterly reviews by the board
of directors.
NIGER: NEXT PHASE
Joshua Nations will be celebrating a successful three-year ministry partnership in
Niger along with our friends at City For the Nations. Together, we have been blessed
to collaborate for pioneer work among seven Frontier People Groups. When the project
began, there were no known Christians in these groups (representing more than 505,000
people.) Through our team in Niger, along with our ongoing training and mobilization
of workers and resources, there have been over 25,100 Gospel presentations, 7,942
salvations, just over 200 baptisms, 21 churches planted, and three Joshua Nations
Bible Training Centers (JN BTCs) started.
When the body of Christ comes together in unity with a focused vision of reaching
the unreached, it is unstoppable. Jesus made it clear that He would build His church.
In Niger we have seen the impossible made possible through faith, collaboration, and
perseverance.
Ministry will continue in Niger as the disciples multiply and spread further out to
more villages. Together, we will establish more JN BTCs to disciple new believers.
Through the new disciples, we will equip every village of Niger. The every village
vision will require focused training for church planters, pioneer evangelists, and
small business entrepeneurs with an objective of permanent self-sustainabilty for each
leader.
“WE WERE ONCE HARD PEOPLE“
When the Gospel began spreading and souls were being saved, some of the new converts
began to ask for permission to reach the unreached. They began to travel across borders
to Chad, Libya, Algeria, and Mali to share the Gospel. Bold and resilient, these new
evangelists said, “We were once hard people. Let us go to reach the hard people.” This
multiplication and viral spread of the Gospel is some of the best news that we could
hope to hear. Still today they continue in the midst of persecution, job loss, refused
access to clean water, and general resistance from their targeted people groups.
CERTIFIED TO OPERATE
Control has been the goal of governments since the beginning of time. In many
cases government structures start with the healthy intent to serve the citizens or
constitutents for which it governs. Over the past several years, many nations have
experienced a shift as their respective governing authorities become more involved
and focused on controlling the practice of religion. A primary way they have exerted
control is by creating laws which require formal training of at least two years for
pastors, or the church they lead will be closed.
As the Gospel continues to spread throughout the African continent, national governments
have turned their eyes towards Christian churches. With the rapid growth of Christianity,
many of the churches that have been planted are being led by men and women who have no
formal training. This is no surprise, as research has long proven that between 85% and
90% of all pastors and church leaders have no formal training. Joshua Nations exists
to remedy this lack of training while also targeting the unreached.
Although Joshua Nations has been operating in many of these African nations for ten or
more years, we have found it prudent to build indigenous, national leadership teams and
then to subsequently register with the ministry of religion in that nation. Creating
an NGO in each nation for the purpose of providing Christian education and training of
pastoral leaders has given additional credibility among existing denominations. Also,
it has now given the authority for Joshua Nations to train and certify graduates with
proper education to keep their churches open and to plant new churches.
Our national leadership teams now have an even deeper investment in Joshua Nations.
With that, they are drafting strategic plans for evangelism, discipleship, and nation
transformation. When the church of a nation takes ownership of the Great Commission,
great things begin to happen.
CORE SERIES
CORE FOUNDATIONS
DISCIPLESHIP TOOL FOR YOU
CORE SERIES
We are very excited about the new discipleship resource
from Joshua Nations! For the last few years our
hearts have been burdened for the American church. The
abysmal statistics surrounding a biblical worldview
are, we believe, the root cause for many of the issues
we see today. Unfortunately, even in the church, the
statistics show that only around twelve percent hold
a biblical worldview. (i.e. believe there is only one
way to Heaven, that Jesus is God, and other beliefs
that should be basic for a follower of Christ.)
Last year we began to see the need for this curriculum
in earnest. People began responding to the Gospel en
masse at events like Sean Feucht’s Let Us Worship
nights, and many began seeking answers as their world
was turned upside down. Joshua Nations saw the need
and desired to resource the local church with a
solid curriculum. Properly resourced, they would be
equipped to disciple their church family and new
believers who find their way to a church home.
CORE FOUNDATIONS is derived from the Joshua Nations
two-year Bible school which is successfully used in more than 50 nations. We know that
two years is a big commitment for most people, so we boiled it down
to 12 foundational lessons. Our hope is that you can use this within
your church’s current small group system or easily implement it in
many other ways including personal discipleship.
30 SECOND
PROMO VIDEO
To go along with the printed curriculum, we have created two video
options for each lesson. One is a full-length (approx. 30 min) video
teaching and then you can go deeper into the curriculum or specific
points as desired. The other is a ’stinger’ video (approx. 5 min) that
can be used as an opener for an in-person teacher to present the lesson.
Full length videos are available on the website www.nowhis.com and on
our Vimeo account www.vimeo.com/joshuanations. YouTube links can be
provided as well upon request.
LAUNCHED FOR MULTIPLICATION
Over the last couple years, Joshua Nations national leadership teams have begun to
make intentional efforts to leverage graduating students for larger, national projects.
When Dr. Russ Frase launched Joshua Nations in 2007, his heart was not only for the
discipling of nations, but it was to see nations transformed by a healthy, indigenous
church. We are beginning to see the fulfillment of this vision with indigenous movements
springing up around the world.
A healthy, thriving, and organic movement includes self-governance, self-propagation,
and self-sustainability. To achieve these goals, we have been holding strategy meetings
virtually, and in-person when possible, with national leadership teams. Additionally,
these teams are now making use of research for locating and engaging Frontier People
Groups within their respective nations. Proper research, a clear focused strategy, and
a growing labor force of Joshua Nations graduates in nations all over the world creates
an almost unstoppable power. As we help equip our graduates and national teams, we
believe that we will see the least, the last, the lost people groups reached for Jesus.
CONNECTED FOR EXPANSION
Donato Parra, Joshua Nations Spanish Director has recently connected with
numerous leaders around the world through what we now call the “Cuban
Connection.” This network of leaders in Guatemala, Costa Rica, Dominican
Republic, Bolivia, Angola, and beyond boasts its roots through the first
Joshua Nations schools established in Cuba. Tens of thousands of men and
women have graduated through Joshua Nations BTC’s
in Cuba. Many though have also sought after a better
life for their families and have moved to other
nations. With sound fundamental Biblical training
and a resolve to seek a better life, graduates are
taking the ministry of Joshua Nations with them as
they go.
Through the “Cuban Connection” and this organic
growth we aim to impact all 21 Spanish speaking
nations over the next several years.
Before Russ went to heaven, the last project discussed was reaching the Frontier People
Groups in the nation of Chad. With the success in Niger, we felt the Lord directing
us to target Chad. Through prayer our team has launched this much anticipated project.
In 2021, Jason Holland and several other men visited Chad twice and held several
large gatherings of leaders and church planters. The teams presented the vision and
began building a national leadership team. By God’s grace the church in Chad has been
burdened for their unreached people and has formed a coalition that spans multiple
denominations. This coalition received our teams with great enthusiasm and joy. Working
in partnership with this group in Chad, we are in the initial phases of a multi-year
project to win the last, the least, and the lost people groups.
EQUIPPING FOR THE FRONTIER
According to Joshua Project research, there are 4,993 Frontier People Groups with a
total population of almost 2 billion people. This means that about one fourth of the
world lives within this grouping and have almost no chance to hear the Gospel from
someone in their own people group.
Over the past several years missions organizations and denominations around the world
have become more informed, and much more intentional, about targeting these Frontier
People groups. Joshua Nations began equipping leaders with this invaluable information
in the nation of Ghana in February 2018. Jason Holland, Shea Rouser, and Ralph Wood
conducted training in Accra, Kumasi, and Wa. In all three cities the team presented data
showing the location, population, language, and religion of the Frontier People Groups
located in their nation. At the conclusion of the final event in Kumasi, one older
and very distinguished gentleman stood up and with great emotion began to chastise the
entire room. With tears in his eyes he said, “It took these three white men to come
from the United States to tell us we have not done our job.” As he continued, the room
became quite tense as it was unknown what was going to be said next. He began to weep
and said, “Brothers we have nice large churches, and there are people in our nation
that have never heard the Gospel. We must change our ways!”
This was a pivotal moment for Jason Holland and the future of Joshua Nations. From that
time forward, Joshua Nations has made concerted efforts to equip the body of Christ
with the proper information and tools to finish the Great Commission in their nations
by reaching all of the unreached and Frontier People Groups.
As Joshua Nations continues to develop deeper relationships around the globe, we
endeavor to mobilize men and women to reach every one of these Frontier People Groups.
A WORLD OF STRATEGY
Looking forward to 2022, our team is taking a strategic approach to each nation and opportunity.
To walk through every open door is not feasible, and is not always God’s will. Through prayer,
discussion, and a stategic lens the team is prayerfully considering how to best serve the
nations in the coming years.
A concentration of resources and energies will first be directed to strong, healthy relationships
that have proven long-lasting impact and fruitfulness. Second, we will look towards how to best
reach the Frontier People Groups in Chad and other locations in North Africa as the Lord makes
possible. Third, we will strengthen new relationships by visiting in-person and online with
training, encouragement, and resources. This will include the development of city, provincial,
and national teams for the purpose of building a nation-specific strategy for discipleship and
reaching the unreached.
Joshua Nations International is building its team for the future. Through the grace and the
call of the Lord Jesus, men and women are joining the team to live for the eternal impact of
the Great Commission. We are seeing miraculous doors open in new regions that would not have
been feasible for us to serve just months ago. God is building our team and providing bandwidth
to say, “Yes!”
New tools and resources for evangelism, first steps as a believer, discipleship, and church
planting are already in the works for release in 2022. Once completed, Joshua Nations will have
a quiver full of arrows that will serve the body of Christ from start to finish; from evangelism
to church planting. Our training and consequent resources will be available for equipping
churches all over the world, including the USA. The Joshua Nations team is preparing to make
itself available for training and mobilizing the American church for the works of ministry.
We believe that a light that shines the farthest, shines the brightest at home!
