since joining the Hellenic League back in 2013/14. But he's been with the club longer than
that, and here's the lowdown from a few of his former mentors!
Director of
Football, Neil
Richards:
It's been my pleasure to watch Jonny's development at Ascot United since he was a Junior player at U13's.
He was part of a very successful squad that also produced a number of other future men's players such as Ross
Seldon and Rory Knibbs. The squad was led by Steve Chell and over the years they not only won many honours at
Ascot Utd. but also represented the club in the Gothia Youth World cup. I was lucky enough to then coach Jonny
when he became a key member of our Allied Counties U18's squad. His commitment and professionalism even
then was second to none. Then followed a successful stint in the USA both playing and studying before returning
back to the UK and to Ascot United. Now we achieve an amazing milestone for JD, 200 senior appearances for the
YELLAMEN, he is an inspiration to our young players both on and off the field. His talent is without question but the
respect he has from fellow players and the wider local football community is huge and fully deserved. It's been a
pleasure JD and here's to many more !!
Former manager, Steve Chell:
Pictures: Above and below in youth team days, although he was
too easily dispossessed of his ice-cream for my liking!!!
We’ll who’d have thought when you joined us at U13s you’d still be going strong 14 years later. The sole survivor
from one of the most successful junior boys teams Ascot have had.
A great lad as well as a great footballer with a wand of a left foot whom it was an absolute please to coach, manage
& see develop and grow as both a footballer & a fabulous person.
Good luck with your 200th game today & here’s to 200 more.
