=SPACE’S MESSAGE

As 2021 has had its eps and flows, =SPACE
has stood true to our mission: to be a
community leader and anchor for creativity,
innovation, and providing a safe space for all.
We are determined to continue working with
amazing community based organizations in
our city and expand our programming. Our
goal is to continue to help those businesses
and artists who are within our walls, and
welcome more people into our sharespace
community. We look forward to what 2022
may bring and how we can better support the
BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ community, in the City
of Newark and beyond!

During 2021 =SPACE added to its inventory,
coinciding with our membership growth.
To provide complementary services, we are
building our mentorship and advisement
opportunities for our community to ensure
they are supported.We have dedicated
ourselves to provide more amenities to
our Spacers like FitSPACE, a gym with a
personal trainer to help address the increased
mental/physical health concerns for the
entrepreneurial community at large. While
these improvements and additions are being
made throughout the year, =SPACE has
continued to implement Covid protocols to
keep all members of the community safe and
healthy, because we care about you. We are
looking forward to what the future holds for
our community members.

multicultural business owners. Headquartered in the City
of Newark, we have been operating for seven years,
delivering resources, programming, and a strong network.

Olivia Kyser is the Co-founder of Circulate, a brand new platform
dedicated to the increased circulation of the dollar in black
communities by helping others discover black owned businesses
& professionals.

RORSHACH
COLLECTIVE
=SPACE partnered with The Rorshach Collective to develop a permanent exhibition
celebrating local Latiné artists, called HIDDEN VOICES. Their collection of works
represents the melding of personal traumas, healing and socio-political views of two
artists with very distinct styles. Like many artists from the inner city, their intention is to
act as conduits that channel both the beauty and grit of their surroundings. Ultimately,
the goal is to focus the resulting chaos into something serene and hopefully
provocative. Rorshach wanted to highlight a powerful woman who actively brings
change and opportunity to artists of the city. They want to remind people of the divine
feminine power that makes Newark one of a kind.

THRIVING
DURING
COVID
COVID is still impacting most small
businesses, and has caused entrepreneurs
to redevelop their business goals and
development. This also impacted the way
we catered to entrepreneurs.
=SPACE has expanded, with over 18,000
sq. ft. of space. We have formatted our
space to host more suites to encourage
safe workplace distance while
encouraging connection with our
common space amenities.
=SPACE managed to develop its
second city-wide week-long
conference, Small Business Week. We
hosted everything from courses to
luncheons, helping 80+ local small
businesses build up various skills.
