The DER Touristik Foundation supports social and ecological projects in tourism regions. The work
that the organisation does all over the world provides young people with future prospects, empowers
women and makes a considerable contribution to improving nature conservation and animal welfare.
Global reach, local touch
A child in Tanzania attentively and
eagerly flicking through a schoolbook.
A youngster in Cambodia learning the
ropes in a hotel kitchen first-hand.
Orphans from northern Thailand being
given job prospects. And fences coated
in chilli paste in Tanzania being used to
discourage elephants from consuming
farmers’ crops. Global reach, local
touch: for many years, the DER
Touristik Foundation has been engaged
in education and training for children
and young people, the conservation
of ecological habitats and biodiversity,
and sustainable development aid.
Helping people to help themselves
The DER Touristik Foundation was
set up as a non-profit organisation in
2014 by DER Touristik and has, since
then, gone from strength to strength.
In close collaboration with other
associations, foundations and aid
organisations, we have continuously
been rolling up our sleeves in order to
ensure the long-term improvement
of living conditions in less-developed
tourism regions. Initially, we focused
on school-building projects in Africa
and Asia.
Further down the line, we also
added vocational training projects
as well as nature and wildlife
conservation initiatives. Everything
we do is designed to help people help
themselves.
Projects all over the world
Since it was founded, the DER
Touristik Foundation has funded
a total of 83 projects in 26 countries
across 5 continents. Numerous
projects have now been successfully
completed while others are still
ongoing and new ones are being
added. The issue is that many aid
projects are struggling to survive due
to the difficult COVID-19 situation
