equivalent), a placement
that will supply 40 hours
of teaching in the first
year and 60 hours in the

Our Part Time Level 6 Professional Graduate
Certificate in Education (PgCE): Education and
Training with teaching Mathematics (Numeracy)
is specifically to train teachers wanting to teach
Mathematics in the education and training
sector, such as further education college, sixth
forms and adult and community settings. It is
ideal for Maths graduates wishing to teach in
the Education and Training sector. You will study
a range of modules that aim to support your
personal and professional development, from
preparing to teach through to more advanced
research informed practice skills. You also study
issues affecting the education and training
sector, such as educational policy, curriculum
and quality assurance.
The programme is mapped to the Professional
Standards for Teachers and Trainers in Education
and Training – England (The Education and
Training Foundation). There standards are
referred to throughout your profession and are
the occupational standards used in the sector.

portfolios, and
by observations
of your teaching
practice

Completion of the
full certificate will
enable you to apply
for QTLS status.
