New for ‘22
Following successful bidding processes throughout
the summer, Darlington College have been awarded
over £2.75million from the Governments Towns Fund
initiative to build and kit out Robotics, Automation and
Electric Vehicle Labs to compliment the Engineering and
Automotive departments. Work will be undertaken to create
a 2 storey steel and glass facility that will be available for
students to access from September 2022.
Another £600,000 has been secured from the Strategic
Development Fund to further compliment this work
and will also create a Business Hub that will be used to
teach professional qualifications in topics ranging from
accountancy, procurement, management and HR, to name
but a few. Conferencing facilities will also be available to
hire.
The developments are aimed at helping to narrow the skills
gaps caused by aging populations and the rapid onset of
new technologies in robotics and electric vehicles as well as
being able to support the new Darlington Economic Campus
which will include the Treasury.
