Rotary Success
The Wigan Rotary Club’s fundraising efforts in December
raised almost £5,000.
Restrictions introduced in December meant that the
club were prevented from carrying out a full range of
fundraising activities in the run up to Christmas, but
despite these restrictions, Santa and his helpers toured
many Wigan housing estates on a float throughout
December and also raised funds via Santa Zoom sessions
for Wigan’s toddlers.
Wigan Rotary President Santi Nandi was delighted
with the efforts, “I would like to thank all the parents,
grandparents, children and friends who met Santa via
Zoom or on the float.
“Thank you for the generosity in supporting us in this
second year of the zoom venture.
“Along with the takings from our famous float collection
this will enable Wigan Rotary Club to continue their
support for local, national and international charities to
which we are committed.
“The comments we received along the routes are heartwarming,
an amazing testament to the organisation put
in to bring it all off”.
Hamper Winner
The competition to win a Lancashire Day hamper, featured
in the November issue of Local Life was won by Gemma
Walls. Gemma’s mother Joan Walls (pictured) of Coniston
Avenue in Ashton-in-Makerfield collected the hamper on
Gemma’s behalf. Thank you to all who entered.
