<strong>Dr</strong>. <strong>Gour</strong> <strong>Gobinda</strong> <strong>Goswami</strong> was born in 31 December, 1967 in the village<br />
of Ajameru under the district of Moulvibazar, Bangladesh. He received<br />
SSC and HSC under the humanities group of Comilla Board from Jagatshi<br />
Dimukhi High School in year 1982 and Moulvibazar Government College<br />
in year 1984 with 16 th and 5 th place in the merit list respectively. He<br />
graduated with bachelor with honors in Economics from Dhaka <strong>University</strong>,<br />
Bangladesh in 1987 and Masters from the same place with first class in<br />
1988. He received his Ph.D. in Economics degree from the <strong>University</strong> of<br />
Wisconsin-Milwaukee, USA under the supervision of Professor Mohsen<br />
Bahmani-Oskooee in the field of International Economics. He is currently<br />
serving as the Professor in the Department of Economics at <strong>North</strong> <strong>South</strong><br />
<strong>University</strong> and working in the field of International Economics (Open<br />
Economy Macroeconomics), Public Debt Management, and Time Series<br />
Forecasting.<br />
<strong>Dr</strong>. <strong>Gour</strong> is actively involved in research in his field. EconLit, the most

widely used search engine of Economics has enlisted twenty one of his<br />
research papers in its network. SCOPUS, another search engine of<br />
scholarly scientific publications has enlisted more than twelve of his<br />
research papers in its archive. It is to be mentioned that his research papers<br />
have been published from the reputed journals of Australia, Germany,<br />
India, USA, UK, and Korea. His paper on exchange rate sensitivity of<br />
bilateral in-payments and out-payments of Japan has been categorized as<br />
top five among the top twenty five hottest articles according to Science<br />
Direct. He has been awarded with <strong>University</strong> Grants Commission (UGC)<br />
Research Award in Social Science twice. He has received this award in<br />
2003 for his paper on smuggling and purchasing power disparity published<br />
from Korea. In 2006 he was awarded with UGC award again for another<br />
paper on bilateral trade balance modeling for a paper published from UK.<br />
His works have been enlisted in many search engines and networks like<br />
RePEC, IDEAS, SSRN, Scholar Google, pubget, Microsoft Academic<br />
Research Network etc. His works have been cited widely in the field of<br />
International Economics (International Finance: JEL Classification: F3).<br />
He started his professional career as a fulltime Lecturer in the Department<br />
of Economics at Shahjalal <strong>University</strong> of Science and Technology, Sylhet,<br />
Bangladesh back in 1992 right after finishing his Masters degree in<br />
Economics from Dhaka <strong>University</strong>. The main motivation was to serve the<br />
students coming from lower and middle income background of greater<br />
Sylhet Division. Before joining NSU he was a fulltime teacher and the<br />
Head of the Department of Economics and Assistant Proctor at Shahjalal<br />
<strong>University</strong> of Science and Technology, Sylhet, Bangladesh till 1999. In<br />
Fall 1999 he has been awarded with Graduate Teaching Assistantship for<br />
pursuing Ph.D. in Economics from <strong>University</strong> of Wisconsin-Milwaukee,<br />
USA. After finishing his Ph.D. he joined <strong>North</strong> <strong>South</strong> <strong>University</strong> (NSU) as<br />
a fulltime Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics to serve the<br />
Private Sector Higher Education in Bangladesh. During his nine years of<br />
teaching at NSU he served in various capacities.<br />
He served as Assistant Professor from 2003 to 2005, Associate Professor<br />
since 2005 till 2010 and Professor since 2010. He served as the Faculty<br />
Advisor for Young Economists’ Forum (YEF), NSU from 2003 to 2007.<br />
He was the Proctor of NSU, Bangladesh from 2009 to 2010 and the Chair<br />
of the Department of Economics NSU, Bangladesh from 2007 to 2009. In<br />
addition to his primary responsibility as a teacher he is also serving as the<br />
National Consultant in the rank of Debt Policy and Management Specialist<br />
in the Ministry of Finance, Government of Bangladesh in a multi-donor<br />
trust funded project (Lead Donor: The World Bank) named Strengthening<br />
Public Expenditure Management Program (SPEMP) under the Deepening<br />
Medium term Budgetary Framework (DMTBF) since June 2010.<br />
