Peter is an experienced rowing coach<br />

and has coached for many years. He<br />

represented Great Britain in rowing at<br />

four World Championships, winning a<br />

bronze and silver medal, and coxed the<br />

Blue Boat at Cambridge in two Boat<br />

Races. He also plays the violin and<br />

enjoys playing golf. Peter is married to<br />

Kate and they have two children, Portia<br />

(8) and Kyle (6).<br />

Rubia Rose<br />

Southcott has<br />

been appointed<br />

Art Fellow. She<br />

has just completed<br />

a Fine Art Degree<br />

(BFA (Hons)) at<br />

the Ruskin School<br />

of Art, University<br />

of Oxford. Rubia is an interdisciplinary<br />

artist and uses performance and selfportraiture<br />

to communicate narratives<br />

reflecting societal attitudes towards<br />

death and grief. She often operates<br />

as the subject of her work, in selfconstructed<br />

sculptural sets, or amongst<br />

found objects. Whilst in Oxford, Rubia<br />

was a member of Christ Church College<br />

Choir. She also plays the violin and was<br />

a member of Mile End Climbing Wall’s<br />

competition team for ten years.<br />

Annabel Stevens<br />

has been appointed<br />

Graduate Sports<br />

Coach for rowing.<br />

She has a BSc in<br />

Biomedical Science<br />

from Oxford<br />

Brookes University.<br />

Originally from<br />

Reading, she learned to row at her local<br />

club before joining her university team.<br />

Having grown up in a competitive<br />

environment, she has competed<br />

alongside her twin brother for top spots<br />

on race day, eventually outdoing him<br />

when she made her debut international<br />

appearance in 2016 at the World<br />

Championships.<br />

as well as being the lead endurance<br />

coach for the athletics team. Prior to<br />

Millfield, she taught at Colfe’s School<br />

in London where she was also the<br />

Head of Cross Country and Athletics.<br />

Before switching to teaching, Abigail<br />

worked as a Sustainability Consultant<br />

for the engineering firm Hilson Moran,<br />

helping manage a number of new<br />

developments in the City of London.<br />

She is currently a volunteer mentor for<br />

the summer scholarship students at<br />

the University of the West of England<br />

and an Assistant Examiner for CIE. She<br />

has moved to Shrewsbury with her<br />

husband, Frank, who has joined the<br />

English Department (see below), and<br />

their two young children.<br />

Frank Tickner has<br />

been appointed<br />

Teacher of English.<br />

Frank joins us from<br />

Taunton School,<br />

where he was a<br />

Teacher of English,<br />

a Housemaster and<br />

Head of Athletics<br />

and Cross Country.<br />

He has a joint BA (Hons) in English<br />

and French from the University of<br />

Birmingham and worked for seven<br />

years at News International in the<br />

Murdoch newspaper empire before<br />

joining the teaching profession. Frank<br />

competed internationally in Cross<br />

Country and Athletics for a number of<br />

years and is excited to try and relive<br />

his glory days through his involvement<br />

with the RSSH. He has moved to<br />

Shropshire with his wife Abigail (see<br />

above) and their two young children,<br />

Felix (4) and Grace (2).<br />

Daniel Tucker<br />

joins us as a<br />

Performance<br />

Analyst. Dan<br />

has had several<br />

years’ experience<br />

working in<br />

the field of<br />

Performance<br />

Analysis within academia, having<br />

previously worked at Loughborough<br />

University and Hurstpierpoint<br />

College in Sussex. He has an MSc in<br />

Performance Analysis and a BSc in<br />

Sport and Physical Education. He has<br />

been involved with a variety of sports<br />

within his work and also as hobbies.<br />

His specialities are rugby, hockey and<br />

cricket. In addition to his love of all<br />

sport, Dan also enjoys music and film.<br />

Jacob Williams<br />

has been appointed<br />

Science Fellow. He<br />

has just completed<br />

his PGCE in Science<br />

with Biology<br />

Enhancement,<br />

coming from<br />

an integrated<br />

Masters in Zoology with Evolution at<br />

the University of Chester. Jacob has<br />

previously been involved with a few<br />

sports, including kendo and water<br />

polo. His main hobbies are currently<br />

reading and researching mythology,<br />

accompanied by his partner, Victoria.<br />

He has won several national awards for<br />

storytelling, including Young Storyteller<br />

of Wales. He is looking forward to<br />

supporting the RAF section of the CCF.<br />

the West of England and has been<br />

appointed House Tutor in Mary Sidney<br />

Hall. She has spent the last six years<br />

teaching Geography at Millfield School<br />
