Hat shapes vary from location, lifestyle, and

personal preference. We still shape hats by hand in

order to meet your custom desires, but if you prefer,

we also have a few pre-creased styles. American Hat

Company’s proprietary petroleum lacquer formula

allows the straw hats to be steamed and shaped

without hurting the hat and still provides the same

level of quality and durablity that we are known for.

We use Standard International sizing which is

calculated by dividing the circumference of the

customer’s head in inches by Pi.

HAT SHAPING SCHOOL

We will teach you expert hat shaping skills and

knowledge of all things American Hat. The

cost to participants for the hat shaping school is

only travel to and from Bowie, Texas. American

Hat Company will take care of the lodging and

lunch. During the two-day school, you and/or

your employees will learn how to take a hat that

is open and flat and shape it to the specifications

of a customer’s personal preference. Each

participant will receive two shaping apronsand

be presented with an authentic American Hat

Shaper certificate that you can proudly display

in your hat department!

On September 4th, 2019, our lives changed forever when Keith Maddox, a very special man, father, friend, cowboy, and

my soulmate, left this arena that we call life. Since that day we have grieved, we have grown, and we have smiled from

ear to ear seeing all the wonderful honors that have been added to his amazing legacy. The Idaho Cowboy Hall of Fame,

the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame, the Keith Maddox Memorial Scholarship, and the Texas Trail of Fame complete with a

bronze star in the Fort Worth Stockyards are just a few tributes that my family and I can’t help but beam with pride over.

When I reflect on his legacy and the incredible man that I had the honor of standing by, there is no one more deserving

in my eyes.

As the American Cowboy lives on, I am very proud to play a part in helping to continue the history through American

Hat Company, where the stars and stripes fly high. For over a century, American Hat Company has delivered the highest

quality hats, and we will continue to do that for all the years to come. We will maintain and stand by our goals, just as

Keith wished, and will continue creating the finest hats in the industry.

As Keith said, “The Hat is not the accessory, everything else is.” It symbolizes everything Keith stood for and the life he

chose to live. He was proud to be an American, to share his love for God, our great country and the cowboy way of life.
