To whom it may concern,
Chinelle Akens is a current Extended Opportunity Program and Services (EOPS) student
at Cerritos College in Norwalk, California. The student’s application for the EOPS
program was accepted in Spring 2021, and remains active and on good standing with
our program, enrolled in 6 units this semester, and 14 units for summer semester. She is
working towards an Associates of Arts in Sociology for Transfer degree to a university
where she can earn her bachelor’s degree, with a career goal of becoming a
Psychiatrist. The student meets all four requirements each semester to remain on good
standing: (a) Attend all three counseling appointments; (b) Maintain above a 2.0 grade
point average; (c) attend a counseling course within one academic year, (d)
continuously be enrolled in 3.0 units.
Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS) assists eligible low-income and
educationally disadvantaged students to achieve academic success by offering
support services to enhance persistence, retention, graduation and transfer goals.
Supportive services provided by EOPS include but are not limited to academic, career
and personal counseling, basic skills instruction, tutoring, textbooks, meal tickets,
transportation assistance and grants.
