Important<br />

Before enrolling in courses, students must consult with <strong>the</strong> graduate<br />

degree program <strong>of</strong>fice, <strong>the</strong> director <strong>of</strong> graduate study in a degree area,<br />

or a primary <strong>the</strong>s<strong>is</strong> or d<strong>is</strong>sertation adv<strong>is</strong>or. As part <strong>of</strong> that process, all<br />

students develop a “plan <strong>of</strong> study” which <strong>is</strong> approved by <strong>the</strong> degree<br />

program. The plan <strong>of</strong> study looks ahead at all <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> courses (e.g.,<br />

prerequ<strong>is</strong>ite, core, optional) required to complete a degree. Since some<br />

courses are <strong>of</strong>fered on a rotating bas<strong>is</strong>, it <strong>is</strong> important to know when a<br />

given course will be <strong>of</strong>fered. Be sure to ask!<br />
