Building and Grounds – Mrs. Martinson stated that the repair of the west building boiler continues.
This boiler was severely damaged by the floods during the summer.
Many of the main replacement parts have arrived and installation of these parts has begun. The goal
is to have the boiler repaired and running before the cold weather begins.
Education – Mr. Sarro stated that Stanford 10 testing begins next week. It will involve students in
grades 3-8. Students will be completing one or two tests each day and will complete the testing
during the week of October 25 th . As soon as the results come in, they will be sent home to the
parents.
Congratulations to our Soccer and Volleyball teams. They are finishing up their seasons next week
and all Komarek teams have done very well.
Mr. Sarro stated that Friday, October 22 marks the end of the first quarter. Report cards will be sent
home on November 1 st .
Finally, the Komarek School Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society has begun. We are in the
process of selecting eighth grade students for induction in last November. Next spring, we will send
out applications to qualified sixth and seventh grade students. Thanks to Ms. Breiding, Ms.
Vesecky, and Mrs. Stalla for getting things off the ground.
Finance – Mr. Waas stated that at tonight’s meeting, we will be asking the Board to pass a
resolution to loan Working Cash funds and transfer Building funds into Education and Debt Service.
This action is necessary due to the extremely late property tax payments and reduced support from
the State of Illinois. Passing this resolution to loan and transfer funds will help the district stay in the
“black” until the tax revenue begins to come in.
Long Range – Mr. Dropka stated that next month we will begin to get input from the teachers for
items to be added to the Long Range Needs list. Once these items are compiled, Mr. Pellicci and I
will make a report to the Board.
Policy – No Report
Public Relations – Mr. Mascitti stated that the Fall 2010 issue of the District 94 Community
Newsletter is at the printer’s and should be mailed soon. There will be three newsletters this year
instead of four to help reduce costs. If any Board members would like to contribute an article to the
winter newsletter, see Mr. Pellicci.
Congratulations to our FCCLA who participated in the North Riverside Chili Cook-off and scare
crow contest. Even though we didn’t win this year, our chili was still the best.
Special Committee Reports
Superintendent Administrative Report
Mr. Pellicci gave a Power Point presentation on our ISAT scores.
Mr. Pellicci reminded the Board that the LADSE dinner will be held on October 28.
Mr. Pellicci informed the Board about several tax appeals.
Mr. Pellicci stated that in tonight’s Board packet is a Draft of the Tax Levy.
Old Business
