The second annual art contest has come to an
end and the Student Council officers were
very busy judging all of the entries. There
were a lot of really great Winter Wonderland
scenes! The winners were Alex Hamer,
Angelica Redovan, and Daniel Dinh!
Congratulations!!!!!
For Valentine’s Day the Student Council will
be selling lollipops and cards to the Junior
High students. The week before Valentine’s
Day students will be able to place an order
and have their lollipop and cards sent to their
friends at the Valentine’s Day dance. There
is a limited supply so make sure to place
orders early!
The student council is also working on antidrug
posters that we will enter into the
annual contest hosted by the State’s Attorney
Office. The contest is open to all junior high
students in Illinois. If one of our students
wins, their poster will be incorporated into a
2012 calendar!

VOCAL MUSIC PROGRAM
The winter program season has come to
a close. After a great performance by the
Komarek Chorus in December, the third,
fourth and fifth graders presented a lively
program on January 12 th . The program closed
with an ensemble of almost 150 students
singing “Over the Rainbow”. It was
wonderful!
The primary children shared their
voices January 26 th with a full gym of
appreciative family and friends. Their voices
might be young and inexperienced, but no one
can deny their “cute factor”.
Third graders will be starting their
Recorder Study during the third quarter. Sixth
graders will begin a formal study of music
theory, and demonstrate what they’ve learned
by playing simple songs on the piano.
Chorus rehearsals resume Thursday,
February 17 th , 7:30-8:15am. Everyone in fifth
through eighth grade is invited to return or
start fresh.
