The ParishCouncil voted to object to the application.The full response can be read on the ParishCouncil’s website but the key points raisedwere:Although the Parish Council (PC) welcomesthe affordable homes the proposedscheme will bring to the village, it has seriousconcerns about the wider implicationsof the scheme, as follows:1. Lack of pedestrian access onto SilverStreet - the lack of connecting pavementsfrom the development along Silver Streetwill be unsafe.2. The location of Everton Road junction ispoorly placed with limited visibility.3. The proposed new road through thedevelopment will become a rat run toavoid the roundabout at the Ashley Lane/Silver Street/ Vaggs Lane junction.4. The increase in traffic from this developmentwill undoubtedly have a negativeimpact on the, narrow, rural roads.5. The lack of cycling and walking routes inthe plan gives the development a sense ofisolation from the rest of the village.6. The complete lack of street lightingwould have a negative impact on roadsafety, particularly at the access pointsonto Silver Street and Everton Road.7. This development does not meetingNFDC’s 2012 parking standards and thereis a shortfall of spaces which will also leadto pressure on parking on roads outsidethe site.8. Silver Street currently suffers from floodingnear the proposed access onto this siteand the situation will be exacerbated byrun off from the new development.9.The PC wants to see more environmentalmeasures included in the scheme.10. The PC is concerned about the robustnessof the proposed arrangements for amanagement company to oversee themanagement of the public open space,which relies on residents to pay a fee andpotentially be involved.Please mention Your Village when responding to advertisements Continued on next page5
