METRO STATION
The Doha Metro is a rapid transit system in Doha, Qatar’s capital
city. It became operational in 2019 and consists of 3 lines with
37 stations and an approximate overall length of 76 km.
Works for all of the stations were completed in parallel over
8 months and included engineering, fabrication and installation.

LUSAIL TRANSPORT
SYSTEM PROJECT
The Lusail Light Railway Transportation System was
commissioned by the Qatar Railways Company to provide
an efficient and pleasurable transportation system for the
people of Lusail City. While its rolling stock is similar to a
traditional tram, it operates at a higher capacity and speed,
and often with an exclusive right-of-way.
DSP DOHA was awarded the supply, fabrication and
installation of architectural metal cladding and glazing
for the project. The 9 stations on 3 lines were successfully
implemented and completed in 2019.

Hamad International Airport is the sole international airport
in the state of Qatar. Located south of Doha, it replaced the
former Doha International Airport.
As one of the sub-contractors for this prestigious project,
DSP DOHA participated in the supply, fabrication and
installation of all metal and glazing work in the commercial
parking area and also the Emiri Terminal.

The new central concourse expansion roof at the Hamad
International Airport will also be built with duplex stainless
steel. This is in addition to the existing airport roof, which is
currently the world’s largest stainless steel roof. The duplex
stainless steel was selected for its durability, inherent
corrosion resistance and low maintenance.

The Hamad International Airport has revealed plans
for its second expansion phase, which will feature a
spectacular 10,000m 2 indoor tropical garden in a central
concourse and a 268m 2 water feature as the focal point
of the project.

Phase A of the expansion comprises the central
concourse linking of concourses D and E. Construction
commenced in early 2021 and will increase the airport’s
capacity to more than 53 million passengers annually by
2022. Phase B will extend concourses D and E to further
enhance the airport’s capacity to more than 60 million
passengers annually.

DSP DOHA’s reputation as a multi-discipline Doha contractor
secured it the roof and wall cladding works contract at the
USACE Falcon 5, Al Udeid Airbase. The multi-purpose building
contract requires a variety of roof/wall cladding systems to meet
the various specifications. Within this, the project will benefit
from DSP’s state of the art roll-former to produce circa 65,000m 2
of aluminium roof panels in varying lengths of up to 85m. This will
significantly reduce the production and delivery timelines and
will enable a flexible response to project requirements.

CITY STADIUM
The Education City Stadium is a 45,350-seat football stadium located in
Al Rayyan, Qatar. The stadium was built to accommodate the 2022 FIFA
World Cup and is located in the midst of several university campuses in
the Qatar Foundation’s Education City.
The design of the stadium, known as ‘the jewel of the desert’, reflects
the form of a jagged diamond through its 31,000m 2 complex standing
seam roofing system. DSP DOHA completed the supply, fabrication
and installation of the standing seam and aluminum roof cladding to
the required high standards.

CANOPY
Longer-term plans for the Education City Stadium, which was built to
host the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, are for it to become a sports,
recreational, educational and social centre for the Qatar Foundation
community and the Qatari community as a whole. It will become the
headquarters of two of the Qatar Foundation’s progressive schools
– the Academyati and Qatar Academy for Science and Technology.
Both schools will be located next to the Education City Stadium.

The total roof cladding area is 11,500m 2 for the schools and is
comprised of 3 layers of designed aluminum panels. DSP DOHA has
completed the 3D design and value engineering, whilst the supply,
fabrication and installation of works are ongoing.

Qatar University’s new College of Engineering consists of 4 floors and
is located in the University’s Campus. The college’s built-up area is
76,371.64m 2 and BIM (LOD 500) was implemented on this project.
The building was designed to achieve a 5 star QSAS rating and
DSP DOHA was commissioned to complete the engineering, supply,
installation and maintenance of a variety of works in full compliance
with project specifications.

MUSEUM
The National Museum of Qatar features an innovative
design by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Jean Nouvel.
The design’s inspiration came from the desert rose
that grows around the original 20th century palace of
Sheikh Abdullah bin Jassim Al Thani.

The 40,000m2 museum is made up of interlocking
discs, which create cavities to protect visitors from the
desert heat. The building rises up from the sea and is
connected to the shore by two pedestrian bridges
and a road bridge.

Sheikh Saud bin Mohammad Al-Thani, the former Minister of
Culture and Heritage in Qatar, was in charge of developing libraries
and museums. His legacy consists of five existing and planned
museums: the Museum of Islamic Art, the National Library, the
Natural History Museum, a Photography Museum and a museum for
traditional textiles and clothing.
Alongside these projects, he also designed a private art museum
with the architect Jean Nouvel, for which DSP DOHA had the honor
of providing the stainless steel mesh exterior and roof cladding.

Architectural practice Foster + Partners has revealed images of
Lusail Towers, which is part of a larger masterplan 15km north of
Doha in the city of Lusail. The 1.1 million m 2 development, with an
exclusive cluster of 4 high-rise buildings, will host the headquarters
for the Qatar National Bank, Qatar Central Bank and Qatar

The Printemps du Louvre development in Doha will
mark a recapturing of international markets for the
department store. It will be housed in the mixed-use
complex the Banyan Tree Doha – which also hosts hotels,
cinemas and a leisure offering. Printemps will take up 3
floors over a surface area of 30,000m 2 , which will make the
store the group’s second largest after its Paris flagship,
at 45,000m 2 . The store’s offering will be luxury-oriented.

The building received the CTBUH Skyscraper
Award for the Best Tall Building Worldwide
from the CTBUH in 2012. The 238m-high
$125 million office building was designed
by the French architect Jean Nouvel.

The ‘dewaniya’ or ‘diwaniya’ was the
reception area where a Middle Eastern man
traditionally received his business colleagues
and male guests. Today the term refers both
to a reception hall and the gathering held in
it, and visiting or hosting a dewaniya is an
important feature of a Gulf Arab man’s social
life. This diwaniya was built for the Al Sager
family – which is part of a consortium that
owns the National Bank of Kuwait.
DSP DOHA was commissioned to create and
install brass wall cladding and doors, alongside
mirrors and glass surfaces inside the
dining room and washrooms.
