to you. It is highly recommended you obtain a small amount of New
Zealand currency prior to your arrival in New Zealand.
INCIDENTALS
We suggest you allow a minimum NZD$35-$50 per day per person for
incidental cash expenses such as lunch and morning and afternoon tea.
DUTY FREE
Purchases up to the value of NZD $700 may be brought into New
Zealand before incurring tax. Providing you are 18 years of age, you
can take the following items free of duty and tax:
• 200 cigarettes or 250 grams of tobacco or 50 cigars, or a mixture of
all three weighing no more than 250 grams
• 4.5 litres of wine or beer (6 x 750ml bottles of wine / up to 12 cans
of beer) and one 1125ml bottle of spirit/liqueur
Returning to Australia, you can bring in:
• 50 cigarettes or 50 grams of cigars or tobacco products
• 2.25 litres of alcohol
If you exceed the AUD $900 total limit of duty free purchases, you
will be required to pay the applicable tax on all items purchased. Please
check with your travel agent for your local duty free allowances.
AGRICULTURAL RESTRICTIONS
Visitors are not permitted to carry plants, fruit, and some foods into
New Zealand. All foodstuffs or animal and plant materials must be
declared.
TIME ZONES
Time differences between New Zealand and Australian states:
• ACT, NSW, VIC, TAS, QLD* - 2 hours behind.
• NT, SA - 2.5 hours behind.
• WA - 4 hours behind.
*QLD is 3 hours behind during daylight savings.
New Zealand is 12 hours ahead of GMT. During daylight savings in New
Zealand the time difference is 13 hours.
