They cannot wait to get in theclassroom, have some fun, and express themselves.And when the kids perform on the stage for familyand friends at the end of the session; lookout! Thefeeling of success and confidence is infectious.Davenport Junior Theatre (DJT) is the secondoldest children’s theatre in America! Founded in1951, DJT is a proud program of Davenport Parksand Recreation (DPR).DJT provides theatre and dance programsfor kids ages 3-18. We see over 1,800 enrollmentsa year in our programs.“Summer is a great time to explore somethingnew,” said Performing Arts Supervisor, DanielSheridan. “We have theatre and dance classes ina wide array of topics. And our limited 8 or 9 weeksession is perfect to try a new style of dance or amusical theatre class!”The goal of DJT is to give every child thetools to communicate with clarity, confidence andcreativity no matter where life may lead them. Oh!And of course, there is a lot of fun to be had in theprocess.Junior Theatre is celebrating its 70thAnniversary this summer! On June 25 from 11am-3pm, a giant picnic on the lawn will be held at JuniorTheatre. Free food, performances, tours, games,and much more will be going on. The Junior Theatremuseum will also open this day! All are welcome tocome and celebrate!In late June will also be the performingImagine That on its mainstage. The musical followsthe story of Rapunzel with a twist. And the best part,shows have a $0 admission fee. Donate what youcan and come enjoy the show!THEATRE - Theatre classes include (ages 3– 18): Broadway Beats (3-4yrs), Theatre Fun(3-4yrs),Acting, Musical Theatre, Teen Acting, Intro to TechDesign, Theatre Improv (all ages), and more!DANCE – The goal of DJT Dance is to engageand empower every child so they can expressthemselves with confidence for a lifetime. This noncompetitiveprogram focuses on the joy of learning.A specific emphasis is placed on affordability somore people can access professional quality dance.Dance classes include (ages 3 – 18): BuddingBallet (3-4yrs), Tumble Tots (3-4yrs), Ballet, Tap,Jazz, Poms, Lyrical, Tumbling, and more for all ages!Davenport Junior Theatre is ready for aSummer full of fun, exploration and growth.
