Lebron James misses
\the NBA playoffs!
The Los Angeles Lakers have now
MISSED THE PLAYOFFS in half of LeBron
James’ four seasons with the franchise.
Los Angeles was ELIMINATED from
playoff contention Tuesday after falling to the
PHEONIX SUNS by a 121-110 score. The San
Antonio Spurs defeated the Denver Nuggets
116-97, giving San Antonio a three-game lead
over the Lakers for the No. 10 seed in the
Western Conference and the final spot in the
postseason play-in tournament with three
regular-season games left to be played.
This is a stunning development
considering how much PRESEASON LOVE
the Purple and Gold received as a presumed
CHAMPIONSHIP CONTENDER. The roster has
five likely FUTURE HALL OF FAMERS with
James, Anthony Davis, Russell Westbrook,
Carmelo Anthony and Dwight Howard, and the
team isn’t far removed from its 2020 title.
Following Tuesday’s loss, Lakers head
coach Frank Vogel, who is firmly on the HOT
SEAT, said of missing the playoffs: “Extremely
disappointed. Disappointed for our fanbase.
Disappointed for the Buss family, who gave us
all this opportunity and we want to play our
part in bringing success to Laker basketball
and we fell short.”
It was clear from the early portion of the
season that the Westbrook addition wouldn’t
work out as hoped. He was an AWKWARD FIT
alongside James since both have been balldominant
players throughout their careers,
and his inability to consistently hit shots
from the outside prevented him from taking
advantage of the spacing created by the
attention the King and Davis drew.
THE NINE-TIME ALL_STAR also opened
up about how the criticism he has received has
weighed on him and his family this season.

It’s back-to-back for
Nikola Jokic.
All three made a strong argument
from a traditional counting stats
perspective:
Jokic: 27.1 PPG, 13.8 RPG, 7.9 APG, 58.3
percent from the field, 33.7 percent
from three
Embiid: 30.6 PPG (tops in the NBA),
11.7 RPG, 4.2 APG, 1.5 BPG, 49.9 percent
from the field, 37.1 percent from
three, 11.8 free-throw attempts and
9.6 free throws made per game (both
tops in the league)
Antetokounmpo: 29.9 PPG, 11.6 RPG,
5.8 APG, 1.4 BPG, 55.3 percent from the
field, 29.3 percent from three
For the second straight season,
the Denver Nuggets center was
named the NBA MVP, beating out
Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid
and Milwaukee Bucks defending
champion Giannis Antetokounmpo.
For the latter part of the 2021-22
season, a HEATED MVP DEBATE
emerged between Jokic and Embiid
backers, with Antetokounmpo
emerging as a serious contender
down the stretch.

Borrusia Dortmund
Accepts Manchester City’s
Offer for Haaland
“There has been huge excitement
as this deal edged closer and
closer, and it is a fantastic story

grown up with a real affection for
the club.

in 88 appearances for Borussia
Dortmund since he went there in
2020, one of the most coveted
strikers in world and European
football and he is going to be
playing in Man City’s sky blue next
season.
“I’ve been told the release fee is
actually 60m Euros (£51.1m) and
the total, including agents’ fees
and the signing-on fee, is 100m

Tennis
The Spanish teenage sensation capped another
impressive week with a straight-set victory over
Alexander Zverev on Sunday to win the Madrid
Open and become the second-youngest player to
win two Masters 1000 titles.
His comfortable 6-3, 6-1 win over Zverev followed
victories over his idol Rafael Nadal in the
quarterfinals and top-ranked Novak Djokovic in
the semifinals.
“Last year I was going through these experiences
for the first time, playing against the best players,
playing in the Masters 1000, and I learned a lot,”
Alcaraz said. “Now it’s different. I go onto the court
knowing that I can win, with the confidence that I
can win at any moment.”
Alcaraz became the youngest winner in Madrid,
and the second youngest to win two Masters
1000 trophies after Nadal won in Monte Carlo
and Rome in 2005 as an 18-year-old. Alcaraz had
already become the youngest to enter the top 10
since Nadal did it in 2005.
Alcaraz tried to downplay the hype about whether he is the
best player right now, though.
“Djokovic is the No. 1 in the ranking,” he said. “It’s not
because I won in Barcelona and beat Djokovic and Rafa
in Madrid that I will consider myself the best player in the
world. Also, I think I’m going to be No. 6 tomorrow, so I still
have five players in front of me to be the best one.”
For Zverev, who was trying to win his second consecutive
Madrid title — and third overall — there was no doubt
about who was playing the best tennis.
“Right now you are the best player in the world,” Zverev said
before the trophy ceremony and joked about his opponent’s
age. “Even though you are still 5 years old, you are still beating
us all, so great to see for tennis that we have such a new
superstar who is going to win many Grand Slams, who is
going to be No. 1 and is going to win this tournament many
times.”
Alcaraz had won his first Masters 1000 tournament in Miami
earlier this year. He had also won in Rio de Janeiro and
Barcelona. His first career title came in Umag last year.
“It feels great to be able to beat
these players,” the 19-year-old
Alcaraz said. “To beat two of the
best players in history and then
Zverev, the world No. 3. He is a
great player. I would say this is the
best week of my life.”
It was the seventh straight win
over a top-10 player for Alcaraz,
and his tour-leading fourth title of
the year. He also has the most wins
this season with 28, one more than
Stefanos Tsitsipas.

LEYLAH ANNIE
FERNANDEZ WINS
MONTERREY OPEN
Canadian superstar beats Camila Osorio to secure the
championship
On February 28, Leylah Fernandez rejoined the
WTA fray in Monterrey, Mexico, where she’s the
second seed. In a first-round assignment, Leylah
eased past Slovakian Anna Karolina Schmiedlova,
WTA 88th, in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2.
The 2021 US Open finalist is competing in her
third event this season. In January, she fell in the
first round of the AO and won one and dropped
one at the Adelaide International 1.
Monterrey is where she secured her very first
WTA title, at the outcome of a face-off with Viktorija
Golubic of Switzerland last year.
If you took a quick look at the doubles draw,
you may have noticed Fernandez and Fernandez
and thought you were seeing double. Don’t worry—you
weren’t. For the very first time at a WTA
tournament, Leylah is joining forces with her
18-year-old sister Bianca.
The Quebecois siblings faced first seeded team
Elixane Lechemia, from France, and American
Ingrid Neel. Unfortunately but expectedly, the
young Canadians fell 6-2, 6-3.

Tiger Woods Plans to Play in 2022
PGA Championship Barring Any
Injury Setback
Tiger Woods is reportedly planning to play in the
2022 PGA Championship next month.
According to Golf Digest, a source in Woods’
camp said Tiger will compete in the tournament
“barring any setbacks” from the injuries he
suffered in a car accident in February 2021.
Woods played in the Masters earlier this month,
marking his first competitive tournament since
2020.
Impressively, Woods made the cut at the Masters,
although he struggled over the weekend and
finished in 47th place with an overall score of
13-over par.
Still, it was a huge accomplishment for Woods in
his first tournament back, as he finished ahead
of big names like Jordan Spieth, Brooks Koepka,
Xander Schauffele, Bryson DeChambeau and
Justin Rose.
The 46-year-old Woods suffered multiple broken
bones in his legs during the 2021 crash, which
created concern regarding whether he would
ever be able to play competitive golf again.
Simply teeing up for the Masters was a huge
win, although the fact that Woods faded as the
tournament went on suggests fatigue could be
an issue for him for the remainder of his career.
Because of that, few expect him to add to his
career total of 15 major championships, which is
second only to Jack Nicklaus’ 18.
Tiger has overcome the odds before, though,
winning the Masters in 2019, 11 years after his
last major title at the 2008 U.S. Open.
Woods bounced back from multiple injuries
and surgeries to his back and knees to win that
tournament, giving golf fans one of the biggest
feel-good moments in the history of the sport.

Sergio perez and pierre gasly
are competing for the 2023 red
bull seat
Helmut Marko has revealed that Pierre
Gasly is set to compete with current
Red Bull driver Sergio Perez for the
spot as Max Verstappen’s teammate in
the 2023 Formula 1 season.
However, Red Bull’s head of driver
development program admitted that
Perez has already established himself
in the team and it won’t be easy to part
ways with him.
“If Gasly’s contract expires and we can’t
offer him any chance of promotion, we
will most likely lose him,” Marko said in
an interview with the YouTube channel
Formel1.de.
“We don’t want that. We currently have
a contract with Checo Perez and we
have to compare the performance of
these two drivers. With Checo we still
have until mid-season.
“The car fits him better, he feels more
comfortable, plus he already knows
the team. We are very happy that this
development has taken place.”
“It would be madness for Red
Bull Racing to drop the in-form
Sergio Perez for AlphaTauri driver
Pierre Gasly at the end of the 2022
Formula 1 season” according to ex-
F1 engineer Kees van de Grint.

Carlos Sainz extends
contract with Scuderia
Ferrari until 2024
ALL SPORTS
“I feel strengthened by this renewed show
of confidence in me and now I can’t wait to
get in the car, to do my best for Ferrari and
to give its fans plenty to cheer about. The
F1-75 is proving to be a front-runner, which
can allow me to chase my goals on track,
starting with taking my first Formula 1 win.”
Ferrari Team Principal Mattia Binotto said:
“I have said several times that I believe we
have the best driver pairing in Formula 1
and so, with every passing race, it seemed
a completely natural step to extend Carlos’s
contract, thus ensuring stability and
continuity. In his time so far with the team,
he has proved to have the talent we expected
from him, delivering impressive results and
making the most of all opportunities.
“Outside the car, he is a hard worker with an
eye for the smallest detail, which has helped
the whole group to improve and progress.
Together, we can aim for ambitious targets
and I’m sure that, along with Charles, he can
play a significant part in fuelling the Ferrari
legend and will write new chapters in the
history of our team.”
His new deal brings him in line with Leclerc,
with both drivers now contracted to Ferrari
until at least the end of 2024.
Sainz, who has 143 Grand Prix race starts,
currently sits third in the drivers’ standings
on 33 points, having finished second and third
respectively in the opening two races before
retiring early last time out in Australia.
