Scott Eddyvean
Humble. A team player. Quiet. A budding leader. Enthusiastic.
Scott is a student who recognizes the joy of making the assist, rather than
getting the goal. The reason, ―I just want to see them get a shot!‖ This
year, Scott ran for his classroom council and won as the Sports and Leisure
representative. He puts forth a solid effort to the Junior/Intermediate
divisional activities at Mary Immaculate School. In the classroom and out,
Scott is a student who perseveres over challenging tasks and takes to heart what is said to
him.
As a means to share what Scott emits from himself, here are a few words from Mother
Teresa:
―Be the living expression of God’s kindness—kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes,
kindness in your smile . . . ―
I applaud you and thank you, Scott, for bringing this to Mary Immaculate Community School
each and every day.
Shayla MacLennan
Shayla MacLennan is a student that has grown into herself as a person over
the course of the past few years.
When she entered the Junior Division at Mary Immaculate, she was unsure of
herself, who she was and what she was willing to do that would make her
stand out from her classmates. That uncertain girl has grown into a
confident, strong-minded individual who will speak out, who will choose to
stand out to be herself and let others be themselves. She demonstrates a
willingness to put herself at risk, especially for others that need support.
Shayla is confident in her ideas and her sense of right and wrong. She will speak up for
others, when they seem alone. She will ensure that classmates are not left out. She
consistently works to improve the morale of others and the sense of spirit in the class and
school. Because of her maturity and strong sense of self she has become a determined
leader. She projects a positive image of self that others can emulate. She is well-liked by all
ages in the school, as well as the adults that work at Mary Immaculate. She is someone who
is sought out for assistance. Shayla welcomes any opportunity to help others and grow more
as an individual.
When asked who deserves this award, Shayla’s name came to mind without hesitation as
someone who is silently applauded every day for her accepting, positive attitude as well as
her strength as a leader and demonstration of understanding and empathy
towards others.
