An unexpected gift or meal out, or simply an encouraging comment. For many the highlight of the recent Jubilee coverage was THAT royal tea party, and thediscovery, after 70 years, of just what the Queen does keep in her handbag…Jesus was a man of surprises – turning water in to wine at a wedding; calming alife-threatening storm at sea with a quiet word; feeding 5,000 people with five loaves andtwo small fish; walking on water – wouldn’t you, like so many at the time, want to hang out with a man like this? A manwho, despite being crucified, dead and buried, rose again three days later, bringing the offer of new life to all. Thebiggest surprise ever, and a hope that will never fade……we are called to expect the unexpected…Thank you to those who completed the St John’s Church survey earlier in the year. Looking at your thoughts andcomments, of those who replied it’s very clear that the Church is important; that we have a real place in the Village;that we could, indeed ‘should’ be in a stronger place within the community, a real part of it, doing more, offering moreopportunities. How inspiring is that?Working together, we can reach that stronger place; please do keep an eye out for events that might just surprise you, later in the year. This year the annual Carnival Service, with the Delabole churches working together, will be in the Marquee – we hopeto see you there, July 10th – come expecting the unexpected; and relax; it will be a time of joy!If we can assist in any way, please make contact with any member of the teamRev Angela – 01840 212468; Rev Jeffrey – 07562 700170; Readers Claire or Sue - 212713The building is available to be hired, for a range of purposes; to have a look or make a booking, contact Claire [212713]or Tricia/Nigel [212520]We are here to help and support…Claire Salzmann - Reader [LLM] - July 2022
