ABOUT RBS
Since its launch in 2014, the Raffles Business Symposium has been designed to serve as a greenhouse
for budding youth entrepreneurs from ages 15-19. Through the symposium and competition
segments, we hope to enable our budding entrepreneurs to:
Celebrate those who have been entrepreneurially daring
Harness the lessons learnt by existing entrepreneurs
Have opportunities to voice out questions and receive advice from entrepreneurs who are wellversed
with current market demands
Foster the spirit of collaboration and the sharing of knowledge
Present business ideas to gather constructive feedback for further improvement and possibly, implementation
in the future
In the preliminary stage, students will create and submit a written report not exceeding 1500 words,
and a video advertising their product.
In the final stage, the 5 finalist groups that qualify will need to present a 7-minute business pitch
during the Finals, where invited speakers such as industrial experts and leading entrepreneurs will
also be sharing their valuable insights around the theme of Sustainable Tourism.
ABOUT THEME
The theme for Raffles Business Symposium 2022 is: Sustainable Tourism. As traveling becomes the
norm in our globalised and interconnected world, we often place emphasis on the convenience of
traveling. Tourism has also become an integral part of numerous economies, which thus took a hit
during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, we often neglect the vital aspects of environmental, socio-cultural
and economic sustainability in tourism. As we slowly but steadily emerge from the pandemic,
how might we improve the sustainability of tourism, so as to strike a fine balance between
the advantages and disadvantages of this profitable industry?
