Ergonomics
Ergonomics
Adjustable height desks are at the forefront of ergonomic desk design, by allowing you to set your entire workstation height to precisely your comfort level, which may vary depending on your task.
Another huge benefit of adjustable height desks is that it allows you to alternate between sitting and standing. Sitting all day has been scientifically shown to increase the risk of high blood pressure, back injury
and even death. Spending your entire working day standing can be exhausting and potentially just as damaging, so the ability to alternate between the two postures is ideal.
If you’re not ready to throw out your current desk for an adjustable one just yet, look into an Adjustable Desk Riser to modify your existing desk height for similar ergonomic benefits.
Sitting, even standing, incorrectly, will make you subtly move your body in an uncomfortable position. This often leads to back or neck pain. In some cases, an incorrect posture maintained can even lead to
permanent back damage and herniated discs.
Improper chair or monitor height can lead to other problems. A chair or monitor that is set too high will likely make you hunch over your desk. In time, you’ll remain in this incorrect posture even after you finish
working. In time, poor posture can lead to injuries in your lower back.

Materials
Material Usage:
Circular green design has become one of the most discussed topics in the world
today. This subject has received a lot of attention in recent years due to the
recognition of its direct, local, as well as global environmental impacts.
The choice of the appropriate materials and their efficiency play an important part in
the green furniture design process.
A green material or product is a product whose manufacturing, purchase and use
allows for economic development while still conserving, for future generations the
earth’s biological diversity and supporting ecological processes (such as nutrient, fire,
and flood cycles), and the components of the economy and quality of life that require
natural resources and depend on “nature’s services”, such as fertile soil for
agriculture, healthy forests, clean air to breathe, clean water to drink and natural
areas for outdoor recreation, hunting, fishing, and spiritual rejuvenation.
Interiors form a major part of materials use in a building. Moreover, interiors are redone or
modified quite frequently and hence can have quite a substantial impact on
the indoor and outdooe environment depending on the kind of materials used. This
study is an attempt to improve knowledge and understanding of green materials
used in furniture.
The various stages at which care can be taken to ensure enough thought has been
given for the manufacture of the final furniture products.

The project Organico utilizes traditional and renewable resources for the development of a new,
innovative material. An adhesive, composed of calcium hydroxide and casein, is used to press hemp
fibers and shives into solid forms. Through extensive research, the optimal composition and structure
was developed: a sandwich material with a cover of hemp fiber and a core of hemp shives, that is
simultaneously stable and light.
CocoPallet produces 100% bio-based, durable transportation pallets out of recycled coconut husk
waste. The process used by CocoPallet is cheaper than using wood and they don’t require the highly
toxic methyl-bromide fumigation that some countries still use in wood pallet manufacturing. They also
don’t require any glue because the coconut husk has its own natural glue called lignin. This natural
glue is activated when they grind the coconut husk and press them together at high temperatures. It’s
estimated that CocoPallet saves more than 200 million trees from being chopped down every year.
Since shipping pallets are used all around the world, it’s no surprise.

Leather
Sustainable Wood
Desserto® is a highly sustainable plant based material as an alternative to leather made from cactus,
often distinguished by its great softness at touch while offering a great performance for a wide variety
of applications and complying with the most rigorous quality and environmental standards. The aim
is to offer cruelty free, sustainable alternatives, without any toxic chemicals, phthalates and PVC. The
result, Desserto® , the cactus material, is partially biodegradable and has the technical specifications
required by the fashion, leather goods, luxury packaging and furniture industries.
Eucalyptus — sometimes shortened to “lyptus” by woodworkers — is a family of more than 700
hardwood tree species native to Australia. These trees are extraordinarily fast-growing, with some
achieving as much as 6 to 12 feet of new growth every year. As a result, new timber takes just a few
years to mature and become ready for harvest.
Eucalyptus trees can grow up to 180 feet in height, making them some of the tallest in the world.
Because they can be chopped off at the root and will grow back, the trees also don’t need to be
replanted after harvest.

Packaging
Packaging:
Designing your packaging to minimize waste is usually the most cost-effective option and the best for
the
environment. You can do this in a number of ways.
• reducing production losses
• eliminating packaging
• reducing packaging void space fillers
• light weighting and downsizing it
• reducing energy
• improving transport efficiency
Keep the cost low (use shipping boxes that fit the product, this way you won’t need to use too much
filler
material, and you won’t risk having the product get ruined and needing to start all over again if you
chose
packaging that was too small or insufficient).
• Use materials that will properly protect your product. Don’t try to cut corners when it comes to
protecting your product! You should be doing more than putting products in shipping boxes and
calling
it good.
• Ikea is a gamechanger for flat packed furniture, which saves a lot of packaging and transportation
costs.

Packaging
Foldable components that can be easily compressed and assembeled on delivery. It is easy for transportation and it saves costs.
Coco pallete can be used for sustainably packaging the furniture, whch is easy to decompose when it is discarded. The size of the packaged
unit is nearly 25% of the product size.
