Long-term supporters of Newcastle
Thunder’s biggest grassroots festival
of the year, Moody Logistics and
Storage is currently marking its 75th
anniversary having been founded in
1947 by David Moody on returning home
after serving in the Second World War.
He bought a household coal round and
began collecting sea coal from the
Northumberland coast, also delivering
to local businesses before branching
out into transporting bricks.
By 1953 he was operating five trucks,
which included Bedford’s like Peggy – a
restored vintage truck named after the
Chairman Alan’s mother, that frequents
local truck shows and museums during
the spring and summer.
Today, Moody’s remains a family-owned
business lead by the third generation
with Managing Director Caroline
Moody working alongside her brother
Richard Moody,
Operations Director, and brotherin-law
Gavin Cape who runs sister
company Heathline Commercials Ltd,
a truck service and maintenance
workshop that looks after the Moody
fleet as well as servicing customers
throughout the north east.
Moody Logistics and Storage
specialises in overnight pallet
distribution for customers, while also
offering storage and warehousing
solutions, and dedicated haulage
services across the UK.
Shareholder members of the Pall-Ex
network, the firm currently holds FORS
Bronze accreditation, operating a fleet
of 30 trucks from a seven-acre site in
Bolam Business Park, Cramlington.
The fleet comprises vehicles from
3.5T and 7.5T to 18T and 44T, including
standard curtain-sided vehicles
double deck curtain-sided trailers
and skeletal trailers for the movement
of containers.
