Some of these players will be the ones everyone notices<br />
(Scoring tries, beating defenders, making breaks, always<br />
involved, very aggressive and physical).<br />
Others will just quietly go about their work, unnoticed by<br />
many, but have a big influence on the outcome in the game<br />
(Always in the right place, doing the right thing, supporting<br />
other players, doing the work others don’t do, being disruptive<br />
in defence, making good decisions around all aspects of the<br />
game, being generally effective in everything they do).<br />
HOW THE<br />
SELECTION<br />
PROCESS WORKS<br />
The coaches gather information on players from club and school<br />
games, DPP coaches, and scouts prior to the playing opportunities.<br />
The DPP festivals are all filmed and will be watched & reviewed by<br />
Academy Staff. <strong>Player</strong>s will be discussed and a selected group of<br />
players who we feel have met criteria within GASP, will be invited<br />
to attend several training sessions throughout the summer.<br />
<strong>Player</strong>s who haven’t been selected on this occasion will remain in<br />
contention for future pathway involvement.<br />
Newcastle <strong>Falcons</strong> Academy operates a fluid selection policy<br />
throughout the Junior Academy, with players moving to and<br />
from the club, school, and community game dependent on<br />
their development and potential.
