WHY
SURINAME?
Suriname is a member of CARICOM and therefore
TT exporters are able to export duty – free into this
country. In other words, no import duty is imposed.
Suriname’s main trade partners are the Netherlands,
the United States, Canada, and Caribbean countries,
mainly Trinidad and Tobago and the islands of the
former Netherlands Antilles. Several TT companies
have exported to Suriname from both the food and
non-food manufacturing sectors and therefore,
Trinidad and Tobago has a long-standing relationship
and many TT goods have been identified in this
country. In 2020, Suriname imported goods from
Trinidad and Tobago in the value of TTD$2.1bn .
Top non-energy goods imported from Trinidad
and Tobago into Suriname include beverages,
iron and steel related products, propane, cereal
and cigarettes.
