There are four types of sentences classified by their purpose:

❑ Declarative sentences – (Statement)

❑ Interrogative sentences – (Question)

❑ Imperative sentences – (Command)

❑ Exclamative sentences – (Exclamation)

Remember that each sentence ends with a different punctuation

mark:

Definitions to study:

1. Declarative sentence - A declarative sentence is a

sentence that makes a statement.

2. Interrogative sentence – An interrogative sentence asks a

direct question.

3. Imperative sentence – Are used to issue a command or

instruction, issue a request or offer advice.

4. Exclamatory sentence – A sentence that conveys a strong

emotion or excitement.

Draw a line to pair the sentence with the type of sentence:

What is your name?

Clean your room.

It’s 8:00 in the morning.

I’m running late, I need to go!
