This resource book was very significant in
providing legs to the vision and cohesion
to what was happening in so many villages,
towns and cities across the country. It also
made sure we had major buy-in from agencies,
who advertised in the book. It featured extensive
resources and ideas, with chapters devoted to
every key feature of the HOPE year. HOPE 08
banners appeared outside churches all around
the country too so there was a strong sense of
unity. HOPE websites provided news and ideas
for organisers. An outward-facing website
www.HOPEinfo.co.uk, which was created and
maintained by the Christian Enquiry Agency, was
awarded the 2008 Christian Web and Blog Award
for Best Christian Social Action Website.
HOPE Revolution was the
official youth arm of HOPE 08
and, throughout the UK, young
people took active roles in
leading HOPE events. The HOPE
Champions said that the majority
of people reached by their HOPE
08 activities were under 20.
By the end of the year, we were stressing that
‘HOPE is not over; it’s over to you.’ There was no
money in the bank. The team had been disbanded.
We still had the legal entity, but we had lost all the
data. We had shut up shop. It was over.
