Vietnam veterans remembered for service and sacrifice60 YEARS SINCE FIRST INVOLVEMENT IN VIETNAM WAR AND ANNIVERSARY OF THE BATTLE OF LONG TANCommunity members gatheredlast Thursday to pay theirrespects to those who had servedduring the Vietnam War.The Toowoomba RSL SubBranch and Darling Downs VietnamVeterans welcomed attendeesto the commemorative serviceheld at Mothers’ Memorialon Thursday morning.The ceremony marked 60years since Australia’s first involvementin the Vietnam Warand also the anniversary of theBattle of Long Tan.Vietnam veteran Jim Danskinspoke about the conflict whileLong Tan survivor LindsayMorrison read the Roll of Honourof fallen servicemen fromToowoomba and the DarlingDowns.Mr Morrison said it was greatto see the extent of communitysupport for the veterans of theVietnam War.“It took me until 2005 to tellpeople that I had served in Vietnam."I had lived in Toowoomba for20 years before my neighbourseven knew that I was a VietnamVeteran.Vaccination bus comes to Darling DownsThe Spring VaxBus is deliveringCOVID-19 and influenzavaccines across the DarlingDowns region from August 23to September 16.The bus is deliveringCOVID-19 Pfizer vaccines forchildren and adults, Novavaxvaccines for adults, and Influenzavaccines for everyone agedfive years or older.The Spring VaxBus can provideCOVID-19 and flu vaccinesduring the same visit.
