The aim of the following activities is to
encourage children’s sensory experiences with
tactile materials and to relate these to the
letters they are exploring. A large focus letter
has been provided for children to trace over,
paste material onto or colour. Space is also
available around each large letter so children
can paste on pictures or items that start with
the focus letter. Encourage children to explore
the letter shape in any way they wish and add
to the page any association they have with
the letter. Having scrap materials, old
magazines, paste and scissors available
encourages children to initiate their own
creative ideas. Here are some ideas to get
you and your class started.
