Now, on a broad level, we must recognize that there is a

foundation. Jesus is the one who lays the basis. So, all of

these people are Christians. Paul is speaking to the

congregation in Corinth. These aren't Christians who are

Jewish. These are Christians who are not of the Christian faith.

As a result, only Jesus has the ability to lay that foundation.

Then he says, &quotWaia minute.&quotThere is work to be

done. That, whether it's gold or not, may be built upon. No, it

doesn't mention this, but consider gold, silver, valuable stones,

wood, hay, or stubble straw on your right and left hands for a

second. The important thing to remember about either of these

is that they can both withstand fire. So, if you have wood hay

stubble, we all know how quickly it burns. What would be the

works that would make you ecstatic? Things that are not done

in the spirit, whether you're out there trying to do something for

the church, let's say, teaching a lesson to people or opposing

the church or performing this particular activity, whatever it is,

are not done in the spirit. And I'm not attempting to thrash the

demonstrators. I'm just stating that whatever you're doing is

outside of what God has specifically asked you to accomplish.

Is it the proper thing if you can't back it up with a word? Maybe

you'll decide I'm going to do a large job. I have a billion dollars,

and I'm going to gift a million dollars to a hundred people. So,

I'm going to accomplish this incredible thing, but are you doing

something that God wants you to do? Is that a job that has an

eternity connected to it, even if the world believes it's a great

thing? That's one of the most direct interpretations of this,

because if you build on what you're supposed to do, someone

will feel strongly that I need to work in the nursery at this

church. Because I can play the piano and be on the praise

team, I need to be on it. And they are in desperate need of it.

And that's how I'd like to present my gift. And they do it without

expecting anything in return. That's a precious stone idea, like

gold, silver, or valuable stones. And what do we have left of

those beautiful stones of our works when we put our lives

through the fire, which means going to the conclusion of our

lives to death, when Jesus burns it all down and we go into

our, you know, eternally into heaven? So that's one of the

things we're not discussing. Things like sin and non-sin. We're

talking about actions you're taking that are in line with what

God has asked you to accomplish. Now, some of it may be sin

over here, but it's actually about what God is asking you to do

over here. And you're doing it from the heart. You could be

giving away a lot of money, yet it's actually only a straw job.

That makes sense, right?
