LAKEVIEW TEAMING
The basic educational technique at Lakeview Jr. High School is interdisciplinary team teaching. Research and actual
practice indicate that the teaming arrangement is well suited to meet the needs of the middle school-aged child.
The goals of effective teaming in the middle school are many. Several of the primary goals are as follows:
a. Flexible instructional time
b. Effective use of professional time (large group and small group instruction)
c. Flexibility of placing students in classes based on the current needs of the student
d. Inclusion of special needs students
e. A consistent and structured approach to instruction and discipline
f. Common planning time and continual teacher communication
g. Interdisciplinary projects or units or integration of curriculum
From: P. Windsor
Date: August 20, 2012
Re: Team meetings
Since the establishment of common plan times several years ago, there is now valuable time set aside each day
for team meetings. It is my desire and recommendation to have teams meet 4 days a week to establish a definite
routine. As team leaders, I want you to establish a written agenda for P.P.S.-type meetings each week. Further,
there needs to be a weekly schedule that lists topics to be covered each day. I would like a copy of this weekly
schedule by the third week of school. Remember, team meetings need not always be 40 minutes in length. I'm
sure there will be days when a 20 or 30 minute meeting will be enough to accomplish your important tasks. It is
important, however, that regular contact be made and daily business accomplished.
Here are the times for your daily team meetings, as well as a day for P.P.S. meetings.
6 th grade - 7 th period Tuesday 1:33
7 th grade - 1 st period Wednesday 8:12
8 th grade - 4 th period Wednesday 10:21
Encore 7:30 a.m. Wednesdays
Joanna Bergmann has been assigned to the 7 th grade Encore Rep. position. 6 th grade reps will rotate between
Judy Bretl & Erika Myers.
There will be no team meetings on Thursdays to allow for department meetings, co-teaching and planning.
Please see me if you have any questions. Thanks!
