ELECT
ERIKA BIRD
for Council
I’ve lived in Kaslo for almost
30 years, have raised a family
here and now am enjoying
being Granny to two little ones.
I live, work and shop in down-
town Kaslo, so I have a real
interest in our local economy.
Recently, I volunteered on the committee to update
Kaslo’s Official Community Plan. Working with others on
a plan that will allow us and future generations to thrive
was a rewarding and enlightening experience that will
support my work if I am elected to Council.
As chair of the Kaslo Housing Society for the last 6 years,
I am very happy to see our 10-unit building on A Avenue
getting closer to completion every day. Secure and
affordable rentals are just a start; more can be done to
create housing opportunities that will be appropriate as
our circumstances change.
If elected, you can count on me to be
responsible, respectful and effective.
My parents were big on giving
back to the community.
I could do that by continuing to
volunteer on the projects I am
involved in, but for me, I would
rather give back by helping
make Kaslo the best it can be.
We are so lucky to have such amazing volunteers but we
also need decision makers. I believe one of my strengths
is the ability to work with a variety of different people.
One of our basic human needs is to be heard. I appreciate
and value the diversity in our community and at the table.
I hope to continue to listen to all our voices to make
reasonable and informed decisions.
Please consider re-electing me
on October 15, 2022.
My name is Matthew Brown
and I am running for Kaslo
Village Council. I sincerely love
our community.
I am invigorated and inspired
by this moment in Kaslo’s
history.
Many young families are buying or opening businesses,
local organizations are thriving through volunteerism, and
the challenges of the future are being debated and faced
with ingenuity and innovation. I feel called to serve this
community to represent young families such as my own,
and the challenges and opportunities that face us all.
I have lived in Kaslo nearly half of my life. I am hopeful
that my actions in our community in that time will inspire
you to entrust me with your vote.
I am extremely proud of what
Kaslo council has achieved
in the past four years. With
the help of our dedicated
volunteer groups we have seen
upgrades to our arena, ballfield,
golf course, the SS Moyie, and
the trail system. As well, the development of Front St.
park and the creation of a new Official Community Plan.
But much work remains to be done in the areas of Kaslo
South planning process, waterfront development, and
sewer and water facilities upgrades.
This will be my fourth election and I will continue to
commit to bringing my years of expertise to the council
table. My background in infrastructure provides a historical
context to discussions on these important matters.
I support respectful dialogue and stakeholder
engagement. These are critical elements to the success
of any future councils.
I ask for your support at the upcoming election.
