ELECT ERIKA BIRD for Council I’ve lived in Kaslo for almost 30 years, have raised a family here and now am enjoying being Granny to two little ones. I live, work and shop in down- town Kaslo, so I have a real interest in our local economy. Recently, I volunteered on the committee to update Kaslo’s Official Community Plan. Working with others on a plan that will allow us and future generations to thrive was a rewarding and enlightening experience that will support my work if I am elected to Council. As chair of the Kaslo Housing Society for the last 6 years, I am very happy to see our 10-unit building on A Avenue getting closer to completion every day. Secure and affordable rentals are just a start; more can be done to create housing opportunities that will be appropriate as our circumstances change.
