Welcome to the second quarterly UTC Supplier Gold
Newsletter. This publication is for both UTC Supply
Management and our key suppliers. Its purpose is to
provide program updates, a list of new gold suppliers, and
share feedback on the Supplier Gold process. In addition,
this newsletter highlights some useful tools and techniques
to help analyze a supplier’s performance and assist them
on their lean journey. If you have any questions or topics

UTC Supplier Gold is a program established to drive supplier performance and to recognize a
supplier for their exceptional performance. The Supplier Gold process is consistent across UTC as
Supplier Gold performance is required across all UTC Business Units. The program facilitates and
accelerates performance improvements and also recognizes supplier excellence. In 2008, thirty five
suppliers were certified or re-certified with Supplier Gold status.

About the Company
Whitepath has over 35 years of experience
with Carrier and specializes in discrete wires,
wiring harness, and control boxes.

Customer Satisfaction
Survey
Completing a Customer satisfaction survey is
one of the requirements for obtaining Supplier
Gold Status. The purpose of this survey is to
determine overall customer satisfaction.
Surveyed participants must include all UTC
members conducting business with the
supplier. There are 8 categories/ questions on
the survey which can be seen on the right.
Each question is ranked on a scale of 1-7, where
1 is “Extremely Dissatisfied” and 7 is “Extremely
Satisfied.” For a candidate to be considered
Supplier Gold their customer satisfaction score
must be greater than or equal to 6.0. Note: the
overall score is based on the value of question
number 1, overall performance, and is not an
average of all of the questions combined. The
survey must be conducted within a maximum of
6 weeks prior to the Supplier Gold on-site
validation assessment. If any score of the eight
categories is less than or equal to 4.0 it must be
accompanied with a Relentless Root Cause
Analysis (RRCA) as well as a gap closure plan.
For the nomination package:
A standard “box and whisker” plot shown below
must be used. This can be found in the Supplier
Gold nomination template which is available on
the Supplier Gold website.
