TAKING PART
Taking Part is the Young Vic’s Creative
Engagement Department that works with
young people, adults, schools, and our local
community. We engage with over 15,000
people a year, providing free tickets to all
our shows and free creative and artistic
opportunities to our participants.
Our three strands, Learning, Participation,
and Neighbourhood Theatre, create work
that is the beating heart of the organisation.
Each year we create work inspired by a
theme. Last year we explored, ‘Freedom
of Expression’, and this year we are
responding to the provocation, ‘Culture and
Displacement’.
HOW TO TAKE PART
NEIGHBOURHOOD THEATRE
Neighbourhood Theatre is for adults 25 years and
older that live in Lambeth and Southwark. To
sign up please email neighbourhoodtheatre
@youngvic.org with your name, home address,
a contact phone number, and your date of birth.

COMING UP...
MANDELA
28 NOV – 4 FEB 2023
A revolutionary new musical and world
premiere that tells the story of Mandela the
man and Mandela the movement. Developed
in proud partnership with Nandi Mandela,
Luvuyo Madasa and the Mandela family.
PARTICIPATION
Participation is for young people aged 14 – 25.
We offer a wide range of free projects,
workshops and free tickets. If you live or
study in our home boroughs of Lambeth or
Southwark, there are lots of opportunities
to get involved with the Young Vic. Contact

LEARNING
Learning is for schools, colleges and learning
settings. INNOVATE is our flagship Learning
project and over two academic years we have
embedded six artists across two partner schools:
South Bank University Academy and Dunraven
School. We offer free tickets to all learning
centres in Lambeth and Southwark and deliver
bespoke projects for alternative provision and
pupil referral units.

YV UNPACKED: I WONDER IF...
Established in 2018 by Artistic Director
Kwame Kwei-Armah, YV Unpacked was
developed to reach audiences who may
find it difficult to access theatre by taking
professional work directly to them. Following
the success of three YV Unpacked tours,
I Wonder If..… worked with 10 organisations
and toured to eight venues in Lambeth and
Southwark. This show was created with
the community at the core, devising work
that will inspire, energise and captivate
audiences.

St Johns Waterloo, The Woodlawns
Centre, Blackfriars Settlement, South
London Women’s Hub/Beth Centre
and Draper Together at Draper Hall,
Southwark Inclusive Learning Service,
Espacio Mamá, and IRMO and High Trees
(a part of Building Young Brixton) at Tulse
Hill Adventure Playground.
