General Skills
DIST RECRUITMENT PROFILE
• General Computer and Office processing skills – such as Windows XP or
Vista and Microsoft Office.
• Experience with a Relational Database such as Microsoft Access or SQL
Server.
• Ability to work well within a team and team environment.
• Ability to deliver the required work in a self motivated capacity with
minimum supervision.
• Competence in delivery of deadlines in a timely manner.

BSS (Business Solutions Service) Profile Categories
Any of the following categories would be of interest DIST/BSS at either
P2/P3/P4 levels, depending on the skill/category.
PeopleSoft Technical Functional Analyst
• Expert functional knowledge of one or more of the FMS, SCM, EPM,
HCM, PeopleSoft environment stacks (v8.4, v8.9, and v9.0)) with at
least three-years previous hands-on experience;
• Ability to compile key deliverables of a project lifecycle (e.g.
requirements definition, document business & system processes, test
plans, etc), conduct fit-gap analysis, match user requirements to
PeopleSoft functionality, compile technical specifications and conduct
integration and user acceptance testing activities;
• Possess good knowledge of the PeopleSoft technical environment and
tools, such as: PeopleTools, PeopleCode, Query, Crystal Reporting,
SQR, SQL, n-Vision.
PeopleSoft Techincal Developer
PS-Technical-Development includes standard skills related to developing in a
PeopleSoft Enterprise Version 8.x environment such as:
• A minimum of 8 years of relevant previous job experience – with at
least 4 years recent experience in PeopleSoft applications
development.
• PeopleSoft technical development knowledge, up to and including:
Version 8.x of PeopleTools, PeopleCode, SQR, nVision, Crystal
Reports, Application Engine.

• Strong technical background and analytical skills.
• Programming knowledge (SQR, Crystal Query, nVision, etc).
• Successful completion of Oracle/PeopleSoft PeopleTools I and II
courses.
Operations and Protection Applications Regional Support
• proGres Technical Application Support
• Extensive professional experience with database applications on
platforms such as Microsoft: ACCESS, .Net C#, VB SQL, and Crystal
reporting in progressive capacities from programming to system/
business analysis are highly required.
• Strong ability to communicate with non-technical staff regarding
technical requirements.
PC/Web Developer
A variety of custom-developed PC and Web-enabled applications using the
following:
• Experience in Java (Eclipse or other IDE / Swing / Hibernate /
WebStart)
• .Net Technologies (e.g. C#, VB.NET, ASP.NET)
• Visual Basic 6.0
• Relational Databases (Oracle / SQL Server / MySQL / MS Access)
• HTML / DHTML / CSS / XML / XSLT
• Scripting languages (Javascript, VBScript, PHP, Perl)
• Reporting Tools (Crystal Reports, etc).
Project Manager
• Sound Project management experience (min. five years) with a proven
track record;
• Excellent consulting skills in terms of managing client expectations;

• Proven experience within Applications implementation projects;
• Considerable experience in project methodologies, tools and methods;
• Excellent command of English, written and spoken and able to produce

ITS (Infrastructure & Telecommunications Service) Profile Categories
Any of the following skills would be of interest to DIST/ITS and it may be at
P2/P3/P4 levels, depending on the skill/category.
Connectivity
• Comprehensive working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs and
application and network firewalls.
• Good understanding of routing and switching principles.
• Experience monitoring large distributed networks.
• Ability to troubleshoot network equipment (preferably CISCO) and to
use network analysis tools.
• Experience with Novell BorderManager (3.6 and above), Novell
Netware (5.1 and above) and Linux.
• Good communication skills and the ability to provide remote support by
email and phone.
EDMS DBA
• Considerable experience with Livelink from an administrative and
architectural perspective including experience with Livelink clusters.
• Experience with SQL/Server running on Windows servers.
• Knowledge of troubleshooting EDMS systems in a large network and
experience with backing up large EDMS systems is desirable.
• Knowledge and experience of:
o Programming languages such as Visual Basic.
o Microsoft Access
o Trouble-shooting problems in a large network environment; TCP/IP
and other Internet protocols
• Good communication skills and the ability to provide remote support by
email and phone.
Email Systems
• Good experience (minimum 5 years) of email systems.
• Extensive knowledge of administering multi-site GroupWise systems
with 1,000+ users, particularly in environments with challenging
datacommunications.
• Experience with Novell Netware and Novell Directory Services (NDS).
• Knowledge and experience of:
o Data communications, both dial-up and permanent via leased lines
and satellite links
o Trouble-shooting problems in a large email system
o TCP/IP and other Internet protocols such as IMAP, MAPI, POP3,
SMTP
• Good experience with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel,
PowerPoint and Project).
• Good communication skills and the ability to provide remote support by
email and phone.

LAN Systems
• Extensive knowledge and experience using, administering and
supporting Novell Netware (version 5.1 and above), Novell Directory
Services (NDS), and Windows 2000 and Windows 2003 for servers in
networks with 500+ users.
• Experience building Netware and Windows servers (including duplexed
and RAID disk subsystems, preferably using Compaq hardware).
Experience using Portlock imaging software for server building.
Experience installing and configuring Microsoft SQL server and IIS.
• Extensive knowledge and experience using Novell Zenworks for
Desktops to manage Windows workstations. Experience using a
product like Norton Ghost to create images for the bulk production of
managed workstations.
• Knowledge and experience of mixed environments running Novell
Netware and Windows Server (2000, 2003) and Linux.
• Knowledge and experience of:
o Scripting languages and programming languages such as AutoIt3
and Visual Basic
o Novell NDPS, Arcserve, management and compliance products like
bv-Control and DSRAZOR.
o Trouble-shooting problems in a large network environment; TCP/IP
and other Internet protocols, CISCO products.
Field Office Support
• Good working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs and application and

• Certified Diploma from recognized institutions related to the work
request, ie. Novel Certified Engineer for network work.
• University degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information
Systems.
Relevant Experience
• Previous Job Experience: 8 years.
• Job Experience relevant to the function: 4 years.
• In an International capacity: 3 years.
Language skills
• English (another UN official language an advantage).
• Knowledge of any other languages an asset.
