Unfortunatelyall of the Jewies werejust undersize.Some marine researcherswere on the island thisyear. They were great totalk to about what wasinvolved to ensure sustainabilityof the species Longest tailorJim Edserof fish in the area. They taught how to measure fishgrowth and we kept some frames for them to help outwith their studies.Pippies were collected and some worms caught also.The in-house competition for the longest Tailor waswon by Jim Edser (68cm) and as he caught it early inthe trip, had all trying their best to pip him with greatanticipation when a big one was caught and measured.Junior members Charlie, Sam, Lucas and Hunterand their friends also enjoyed some fishing and Lucascaught his first ever Tailor.An alternative freshwater trip was held on the lastweekend in September into October at a well-run fishingcompetition at Bjelke-Petersen Dam. Three membersattended and couldn’t believe how well the GoldenPerch and Bass were biting. They caught over 100 fishbetween them, most of which were released, and wonprizes in the give-aways.
